Sweetenss Iam partial to rotweillers. We have had four of them 3 of them died bofroe the age of 9 . Enjoy & love her as long as you can. I just put my7 yr old female to sleep on Monday she had a storke about a year ago .....Rottweillers life span is about 6-9 years...I have yet to have one last more then 8yrs. Large pure breeds do not live as long as the mixed smaller breeds. Rottweillers are the best companions and are eager to be trained and disciplined, it is what they are bread for...they are a working breed. They are great with children too regardless of al lthe bad publicy they get. They are very loyal and protective, but one piece of advice I can give you is this..with any large breed dog especially rottweillers you need to make sure they know from day one who is boss and who is in charge. I did not do that with one of my males I acquired him when he was 2 and had been abandoned and had not been trained properly and he turned on us, then turned on the trainer and he had to be put down . Having the experience I had with rottweillers over the years I thought I could change him & train him but it was obvious to me and my trainer that he had not been shown who is boss in the very early stages of his puppyhood and showed signs of abuse ..I have never made that mistake again, all of my rotts got obedient trained at 8 weeks old..

Your pup is a cutie..reminds me of ROXY she looked very similiar 7 yrs ago

These dogs are so cute! I love dogs and would love to have lots of them. Unfortunately, I got my spotted monster from the pound at one and a half and he's just like the dog Michelle's talking about. He has come a long way, but is still very independent and a tad unpredictable. He doesn't like to be disciplined. He also goes to bed without us if we stay up too late. It's a real change from my golden retriever, who always wanted to please us. And then there's our half-wild cat. :rolleyes I'll post pics as soon as I find them.

The first one is my 15 year old golden lab Astro. My old yellow dog is so old he isn't yellow anymore! The second pix is one a friend sent, I have no idea who they are.

Wow, I don't know where to begin! That baby Rot brought tears to my eyes... I'll have to visit Cooper today to get a puppy fix now.

Rebecca!!!!!!! Wholy smoke, girl, you look FAB. You should post your before pics, and do it often. Maybe they'll help some of us get our junk food under control cuz you have done an amazing job. And that baby beast on your lap makes me jealous cuz my big 100 pounder won't cuddle. My 50 pound Pitbull thinks she's a lapdog, but Voodoo, my Lab Dane prefers hanging out by my feet. I love that spotted baby!

And the dog wearing reading glasses - he looks so smart!

Hi Michelle,

That is great advice for the Rot... It is my first.. i grew up with Labs mostly... She really is a handfull, and luckily i did read that it is important to show her who is boss... We have also enrolled her and are attending puppy training class... funny enough she acts all bad ass at home.. then walks into puppy training and turns into a little baby and wouldnt come out from under our chair.. LOL :( She is more work than i had first thought, but i love how she is a great companion and has so much personality.. and I love how protective she is of me. She just got finished with all of her shots and we are trying to take her on walks.. it is VERY HARD... she either doesnt want to walk.. or doesnt want to walk next to you.. but ill keep trying. we have her in a harness.

Everyones dogs are so cute.. Becky that picture of your dog on your lap is so funny.. he is a big bear huh! And the lab with the reading glasses on is tooo funny.. ( reminds me of my old lab boomer) :P

Gosh, everyone has such cute dogs! Jonathan, that dog is precious and I agree, the one of him or her running in the snow is too good.

Michelle, I'm so sorry about your dog.

I'm going to try to figure out how to post pictures of my babies.

Nancy

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
