Stalled since week 2

Recommended Posts

Hello, I had surgery on 8/21. I lost 10 pounds in the first eight days after surgery -- and nothing since. I've heard about a typical "stall" at week 3, but nothing this early. I transitioned to pureed food yesterday (at 2 weeks, 2 days -- because my surgeon was out of town for the holiday and I needed to wait for him to return). I have followed the diet without cheating. I have started exercising in the last week (just walking). I don't particularly feel hungry and I'm typically at 500 calories or less per day.

I should add that I lost 13 pounds in the two weeks that I did the pre-op diet. All in all, 23 pounds down still feels fabulous. I guess I'm just surprised that I can eat 500 calories a day, drink all my Water, and for over a week now nothing is happening. I've stopped weighing myself every day as it was driving me crazy.

I previously had a Lapland (removed 2 years ago). Even with the band I lost faster than this early on.

My starting weight was 259, weight at surgery was 246, weight now is 236. I'm 5'5" -- BMI just dropped below 40 with the weight loss I've seen thus far

Hi there

Be patient my friend - the “three-week-stall” can happen any time from day 3 to month 3! Three weeks is common, but 10 days is as well.

Stick to your programme and suddenly, you’ll see the weight drop away.

Even better advice - start measuring.make careful note of WHERE exactly you measure (take photos, side on, of where the tape lies!) - often in a stall, that is when I drop a pants size or shirt size, so being able to measure other than with a scale is useful!

I dropped 10 before surgery, nothing for 2 weeks after surgery then like 8lbs overnight this week back to not losing. I have pcos so I know my body is going to fight me on every pound which is why I had bypass done. I know it'll leave it is just going to go kicking and screaming

I am so reassured to hear you say that -- I have been stalled 15 days now and going nuts. I wonder what the longest stall is...

well, I don't own a scale thankfully. but i do know that my pants are sill tight and roll forward at the waist under my belly and I'm quite disappointed as well. I'm 15 days out. I went back to work this week so I'm grateful that I've been busy to not think about it.

I'm almost 3 weeks out and stalled this week, in fact gained 1.5 - 2lbs from the 10 post surgery.
Just believe in the program it will work. Folks here who have been through this give sound advice. If you're still unsure, contact your surgeon.

I was sleeved on 8/20. Lost 10 pounds quickly (6 days) then stalled for a week and a half. Now 21 days out I am at 16 pounds. I just started losing again a few days ago. I feel your pain.

I had lost 26 lbs by day 10 and my surgeon said that my percentage then is what we expects out of 6 week PO patients. Day 11 I started just losing .2lbs a day and now I’m at a complete stall. With the high, quick loss I’m expecting this plateaue to last a bit.

You will stall and I stalled for three weeks in a pattern and then see a good drop for a week before stalling again. If you don't get that drop after three or four weeks them I'd reassess your diet and get walking or exercising to get it going again. But stalls happen a lot and it was just part of the process for me.

Jessa,, did you have a preop diet? If so how long and how much did u lose?

No, I did not have a pre op diet. I’ve put all my weight back on in the last year after having a Lap Band removed.

I am two weeks out as of tomorrow and am stalled myself for the past three days. I went down 13, back up 2, and there I've sat. I'm just starting pureed, getting 48-54 oz of my Water. Frustrated. Not sure how I could consume so little and nor continue to lose this early! I'd never realized stalls happen this soon in.

I had the same thing happen to me when I started the puree stage Tues!!! I lost the 1st week, then as soon as I started the Soups, weight went up. I'm pretty sure this happened because I was not aware of the sodium content I was consuming, which I was not the 1st week. Today, finally, the scale budged again after trying to correct the sodium for a few days, and tmi I pooped, lol :D was weighing 1 pound less. It will sort out and your losses will come, but I think the changes in the stages will cause the weight to fluctuate and that can be discouraging, so hang tight you have a loss on the way. Mine happened just in time for my post op appt tomorrow! whew

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
