My surgery is friday 10/26 and i have been having a hard time with my Pre Op diet.... i can’t stop snacking on things i shouldn’t be... and i know i shouldn’t but because i can’t have them i want it more,

i really hope my surgery doesn’t get canceled i know i can do this, i don’t know why i can’t stop my self.

I made a promise to myself that I would follow the rules. I got sick a few weeks ago and it was weight related. I've been focusing on the health benefits. food vs health ... health wins. Focus on the health benefits. We have 3 more days until surgery. You can do it! Be encouraged.

Have you ever considered just purchasing the capsules and opening them up over applesauce or something and taking them that way? I just bought bariatric pal Vitamins and bought the capsules instead of the chewable by mistake. I don't want to loose that money, so that's what I plan on doing.

No I haven’t thought of that. Check with your doctor but I can’t see why you couldn’t do that.

That's what I do with my omeprazole, fine if you like crunchy applesauce, always reminds me of thin moist kitty litter, but then O and I have an uneasy alliance anyway. Every ulcer I have I was on Omeprazole, I do not believe it is gastro- protective.

Hello everyone! My gastric sleeve surgery is scheduled for 10/15 and I can’t wait. It’s been a wild ride! 12 years ago I had the lapband. I was 257 and got down to 167. I had two pregnancies and lost all of the weight right after. About 8 months ago I started having a lot of issues with the band. Long story short I have to have it removed due to erosion and have gotten back up to 225 and feeling like crap! I have lost the greatest tool I had to help me and I can’t wait until this surgery to get me back on track. I start my pre op diet on 10/1 and that is stressing me out a bit but I’ll push through. I am only hoping for no complications and a quick recovery as I have three wild and crazy kids!!! Hoping to connect with some or all of you for support and experiences!
My doctor doesn't even bother with the lapband. I've known people that have had them like you & also had to take them out. You sound like you'll do great with the sleeve. After all you initially lost about 100 lbs before.

VSG was completed on 10/15. Recovery has been okay, only issue has been the gas and heart burn. Still trying to find my taste buds. I cannot stomach much and the sugar free options have produced more gas for me. No regrets!!

Feeling a bit frustrated today. It’s so hard to get all my liquids and Proteins in. Worked on it all day today and only got about half of each. I’m working on finishing a smoothie before bed but I am only about half done. It’s just so slow to drink it and I’m full.

I went for a walk (doc recommended 45 mins) but only could do about 20 minutes. Didn’t manage to get my Vitamins either today. I’m working on it and I know tomorrow is another day.

Hoping this gets easier!

Hi All! Newbie here with a surgery date of Oct 16th. I'm so excited, but also nervous...and anxious. I am also starting a little early with eliminating carbonation, caffeine, taking lots of Vitamins, etc. Hopefully being prepared will make the transition a little easier. On one hand, I feel like I should enjoy the next few weeks of "freedom" while I'm still able to, but on the other hand, I'm just ready to get it done and over with!

kdiddle, what type of work do you do? Just curious, because I told my surgeon I'm in accounting and he said I would likely only need a week off.

I was sleeved 10/1 and I thought you weren’t supposed to be as hungry as you were before. I am starving!!!

I was sleeved on the first too. Sometimes I do feel like I'm super hungry but it may be because my husband is still eating fast food. Maybe try getting more Protein in throughout the day. I found using genpro flavorless protein helps me to feel full. I don't like the pre-made protein drinks/shakes so being able to add protein to what I actually like helps me to feel full. Also, this is going to sound crazy but popsicles and the P3 snack packs have been a life saver for me.

Hi katiemarie. Sorry to hear you’re having a tough time. Don’t stress to much just try the best you can to get in your Protein. I had my sleeve done a week ago. I’m sick of the Protein Shakes but I’ve started blending the chocolate ones with some ice and a little scoop of Peanut Butter powder. It makes it not as sweet and tastes like a milkshake! Are you having trouble swallowing liquids?

@CyndieRI my surgery was the 10th also and the heart burn has been waking me up every night 😫

I too have been having increased heartburn. I’ve been keeping tums by my bedside. I’m on day 23 and heart burn has become worse, I’m wondering if I can take nexium twice a day? Have to ask my doctor. But I would keep the tums close by. Good luck. Hope you feel better.

Nope, swallowing is no problem. No pain or discomfort or anything. I just feel full after such small amount. I know that’s exactly what the sleeve is, but I’m having such a tough time getting the requirements in cause my stomach just can’t hold more.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
