cw19147 reacted to MargoCL in How to Start Meal Prepping After Bariatric Surgery
For me personally, meal prepping doesn't work since WLS. I buy items that are pretty much perfectly packaged and sized out (chicken salad, tuna creations, hummus, guacamole, yogurt) so I'm not "wasting" so much food. Additionally I don't have extra space to meal prep and freeze. It may be slightly higher in cost, but the convenience and hassle of trying to find storage in already a small area makes it worth it. Unless it's leftovers from the day before, I find that it's much easier to cook daily for my family and not spend the weekends prepping for the week.

So I kinda just realized that this is for sleevers, but I’m RNY bypass on the 30th ? I haven’t seen an Oct 2018 bypass group..... so is it cool if I still hang here? Haha

I have everything filled out within My Surgery>Progress (left hand side menu) and made sure that my information is public. My Surgery is found in the drop down menu under your name at the top right.
To get the ticker in the signature, under My Ticker complete the ticker and then check to include it in your signature.
If you have already done this, then I am not sure.

Sleeve 4 october, already on soft solid food (Swiss protocols are different) but had to add in some shakes to get enough protein. I am having trouble getting more than 1.25 L per day of water, adding in a couple of shakes helped get more protein and also liquids (I can count them as both :-)) definitely eat really slowly with meat and do the softest kind of prep (baked, poached/sautee in water). You can live on shakes but do try to add in one or two bites of whatever is allowed, its a work your way up sort of thing.

I’m 11 days post op (10/1) and this is the first day I’ve felt like myself. I had my 2 week check up today and my surgeon and nutritionist say all is going well. I’m down 20 lbs and was cleared to start stage 4. In my excitement I ate too fast. Got down 4 bites of chicken and it felt wrong. Then I felt sick and threw up. Horrible. Can I just live on shakes and yogurt? I also also got the all clear to exercise but I’m still so fatigued I don’t know what I could possibly get accomplished. Anyway, is anyone concerned about getting enough water?

Got my sleeve does yesterday, i am
About 24 hrs post op. The procedure its-self was absolutely fine, quick easy,no issues. I do not really have any surgical paid, but the gas they pump you up with is horrendous. Sharp pains, with a burning feeling. They have gone down alot in the first 24 hrs. All i want to do is sleep now, but i get up to walk with no issues.

October 1 here, I'm kind of freaking out. Oddly enough, surgery isn't what's freaking me out, it's life after surgery that's freaking me out.

OK, this is the list for people to find their sleeve buddies, if they want. Forgive me if I made any mistakes, please -- I'm not on the fun pain meds right now, but my head's still fuzzy today. I did my best. I'll fix any mistakes I made, just let me know. (Bonus points if you do not quote this whole post, because it is huge.)

I had surgery Monday lots of pain until mid day Wednesday now just occasional discomfort (sudden movements, etc). I’m exhausted though. I walked around my apartment building and was completely winded (I typically walk a lot more). Otherwise, I feel good. Also I never realized how wonderful popsicles are lol.

Yes! I feel like I’m behind all day but I’ve found that sticking with liquids and avoiding pudding, yogurts, etc. helps. I even add protein shake to my coffee. I only drink protein water. The only thing I have that doesn’t have protein is popsicles and my nutritionist told me today they count towards my liquid. It’s only 3-4 oz but if you have two you’ve already got one cup down. So I sip water and shakes all day and then make soup which takes me hours to finish but I prefer savory to sweet so I don’t mind cold soup since it’s breaks the monotony.

Teen tiny bites, start with sugar free popsicles, your tummy may rebel at that much bulk. I recommend the Tropical sf popsicle brand over the plain orange-cherry- grape box, get more in it but not as refreshing.

Hi everyone! I had mine on 10/1 and just wanted to check in! Pain is totally fine at this point except I’m still having gas pains.. so walk walk walk!! Other than that I had some broth tonight and that was nice but not getting much of anything in.. not hungry and it feels a little funny going down at first.

Be careful if they give you morphine in the hospital.. made me a nauseous mess! Percocet was fine but haven’t had one since Tuesday morning. Had some Tylenol Tuesday night and that’s it! And I’m a big wuss!!!

    Good luck all!!

How are our October 1 sleevers doing?
    Tomorrow's folks - @bmatt418, @cindy t, @Deanayeah, @Lizzieming, @Marla522, @nikoleroze, @Oct517 - are you ready? Best of luck to you all! Check in when you can!
I'm one of the October 3 folks, and I won't do my post-surgery check-in before I get home on (here's hoping) the 4th--I use these forums through the browser, not the app. I also won't update the list of surgery buddies for a couple of days, so if someone else wants to, feel free? But I'll scroll back and add people, once I'm up to it, so no worries.
Here's the list as it stands now, so you can all find and befriend your surgery buddies! ❤️

Youve got a really good stock pile going for post op, but I would return the Gatorade if I were you. So many Carbs in those drinks. Look for Isopure zero carb protein drinks at GNC. The come in tall glass bottles
