NEW UPDATE: Frustr8's very sleepy today. Probably from nausea meds. They have had her up and walking and sipping fluids. So far, so good!

I’m sooooo excited for you!!!! Good luck! Wishing you a safe speedy recovery as well.

You’ll be totally fine and you literally won’t need anything except a phone charger and chapstick. You will probably just sleep and walk off gas pressure for most of it.

I’m having my revision next month and im sooooo excited, i can’t wait.

I'm sorry that you are having a rough time right now. I hope it gets better for you. I am sure things will settle down after a while and you will be well on your way. Hang in there.

Thank you for the kind words. I am on my way home now and am not in nearly as much pain. The pain that I thought was from all the cutting and stuff from surgery was actually gas pains! That pain ain’t no joke so for those of you who don’t think walking is that serious, IT IS. I walked about 20-25 laps my whole 3 day stay and I was still having a hard time passing the gas and the nurse even told me that it takes a couple days before you actually start to pass gas from the back side. All in all, even with the horrible pain I was having the day before, this experience was most definitely worth it. I hope whoever has surgery within the weeks/months to come has great results and a speedy recovery.

I’m not trying to scare anyone, but I am I so much pain. Had my surgery yesterday and I was ok when I woke up but today is so much worse. I feel so bloated, I’m not passing gas but I am belching and my mouth was like the Sahara desert. I was drinking so much Water to keep my mouth moist that I was making myself full and miserable. I hope the next few days are better.

Are you feeling better now that some time has passed?

Screwballski, thank you for asking. I am actually feeling much better now that some time has passed. I’m not filled with so much gas anymore, I can take deeper breaths without pain, I can yawn without pain and most times I can get up without help. Strange thing though, I am still having this horrible pain in my lower left side ( just above the area where women usually get menstrual cramps) when I move, bend, stand too straight and all those sorts of things. There’s no incision there or anything but it woke me out of a dead sleep and had me almost crying this morning. I have not a clue as to what it could be. Other than that my incisions look great and everything else is well too. I can’t lay on my sides yet though, that’s a bummer since I usually sleep on my sides lol. Also, I have not thrown up or anything either. I do feel like In the morning and night it is hard to get all my pills in because I get so full taking them. That’s about it.

i wonder if it could be a little pocket of gas or some Constipation from pain and other meds.

The pill thing is pretty normal. I took my essentials and waited a full week before adding in supplements.

Glad to hear you are doing well. If that pain doesn’t fade with hydration and walking, pls call your surgeon. That’s why they make the big money! :)

Screwballski, I haven’t even bought my Multivitamins yet. I only take 6 pills in the morning and 5 at night, that’s why I’m surprised that I’m getting full so fast. And as for the pain, it feels different than the gas pain. I almost went to say it feels like someone is pulling on the stapled part of my intestines but I’m not sure if that is a good explanation for the feeling. I want to wait a couple before I go to the hospital or call the surgeon. Maybe it will go away on its own. If it doesn’t, I’ll definitely be going to hospital and calling the surgeon. Thank you for the advice, it’s nice to hear from people that have already been through what I’m currently going through.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
