mdmiller9385 got a reaction from FluffyChix in What they won’t tell you after gbpI didn’t smell when I got home from surgery at all... also I didn’t have to give myself blood thinning shots when I got home. -
mdmiller9385 got a reaction from Separ1418 in Don’t over pack! You most likely won’t use anything you bring!!So my surgery was on the 4th and the night before surgery I had written an entire length of paper worth of things to bring with me. Guess how many of those things I actually used?? THREE. My chapstick, sweater, and phone charger. I didn’t even get to brush my teeth (yes I know, gross) because I was either asleep, or walking and then when I was done walking I was right back to sleep. I had a book with me and a couple times I started reading and the words started to blurr together. Before I knew it I was waking up to people coming in to check my vitals.
Needless to say, don’t pack so much stuff to take with you. All it did was make more things for my husband to take to the car ??. There may be a few people that will get bored and not sleep as much but even if you are those type of people I suggest you do sleep. I hear it helps with the healing process. Best of luck to all of you who are still waiting to have surgery! -
mdmiller9385 got a reaction from Orchids&Dragons in What they won’t tell you after gbpThey gave me heparin. The first nigh was the worst! I was up every 2 hours peeing because I was hooked to an IV bag. That part sucked because I was getting up and down constantly and my stomach was getting sore. -

mdmiller9385 got a reaction from clsumrall in LAST FEW DAYS BEFORE SURGERY---AM I TOTALLY READY?Thank you for the kind words. I am on my way home now and am not in nearly as much pain. The pain that I thought was from all the cutting and stuff from surgery was actually gas pains! That pain ain’t no joke so for those of you who don’t think walking is that serious, IT IS. I walked about 20-25 laps my whole 3 day stay and I was still having a hard time passing the gas and the nurse even told me that it takes a couple days before you actually start to pass gas from the back side. All in all, even with the horrible pain I was having the day before, this experience was most definitely worth it. I hope whoever has surgery within the weeks/months to come has great results and a speedy recovery. -

mdmiller9385 got a reaction from FluffyChix in LAST FEW DAYS BEFORE SURGERY---AM I TOTALLY READY?I’m not trying to scare anyone, but I am I so much pain. Had my surgery yesterday and I was ok when I woke up but today is so much worse. I feel so bloated, I’m not passing gas but I am belching and my mouth was like the Sahara desert. I was drinking so much water to keep my mouth moist that I was making myself full and miserable. I hope the next few days are better. -

Any little blip you have, someone's already had it, won victory over it and can give you a lot of practical advice. So give us a try.
I wonder, myself how my body will react, no matter how much study you've done , it is a Strange New World, you might think you have a roadmap, but what if there are charted roads that weren't there at last printing? Nothing to DO but DO IT, and pray that things go well, and if yours goes hood, I'll be the next day. We can do THIS together!??? -
mdmiller9385 got a reaction from Frustr8 in What fears did you have, before you had surgery, about why would happen after surgery? You are absolutely right. I’m just stressing myself out over wondering how my body will be after surgery but, like you said, I won’t know until after I have the surgery. I’m not so much worried about complications during surgery, at least for now. My health is optimal other than my weight, so I’m sure things will go smoothly.
Thank you for your comment, it really helped me to not worry over things that I most likely wont encounter. If I do, I’ll just have to deal with it when the time comes ?. -
mdmiller9385 reacted to Frustr8 in What fears did you have, before you had surgery, about why would happen after surgery? You and @ Kat0000 have your surgeries on September 14th, @ TaylorMade4one and @ Shane have theirs on September 13th. That's Surgery Quads over 2 days. I think that is very cool.
