If sweets entered my house, I’d demolish them in a day or two. Now? I’ve had a cupboard full of Girl Scout Cookies for five months. I have chocolate left over from my Christmas stocking. I had to throw out Japanese mochi because I forgot about it and it went hard. I keep an emergency tube of cookie dough in my fridge for kid visits and it’s been untouched for two months. That’s not even getting into all the Pasta I’ve similarly not touched.

It is crazy that my brain doesn’t go for those things for stress eating anymore. These days it’s cheese, coffee, Crystal lite or cashews... which now I’ve written it is weird because it all starts with “c”. Odd. But one of the ”c”s is not candy or cookies, which is remarkable!

Count me in for another one obsessed with My 600 lb Life. I dont care anymore.

I used to go to the grocery store and buy a ton of food for a bad day. French bread, spinach dip, rotisserie chicken, sides from the deli and of course a variety of deserts. I would use the excuse that I deserve it. Now I have other ways to cope with being tired or having a bad day. I dont go to the store when I feel stressed out because I dont want to be tempted.

Eating out...the thrill is gone. I can only eat tiny amounts so I have to sit and watch other people eat

That's my biggest concern sitting here one week post-op.

Also, my partner and I's favourite pasttime was scoffing down pizza while watching my 600 pound life.

The good thing? Is that as you develop a great interest in living and eating healthy, and as you lose weight and become more and more active, you will find it hard to "sit" in front of the tv. Cuz you are gonna crave activity and people. It happens to a lot of us! We WANT to be more social. So you can develop new activities and interests. It's like coming back to life from a deep sleep and isolation.

I agree with @FluffyChix - it wasn't something I realised would happen but gradually I began to get my active just because i wanted to be. I always used to push myself to do things like try and exercise or do housework but after having lost a shittonne* of weight I accidently discovered I like doing stuff more. I even run up and down the stairs without meaning to. Seriously I find myself doing it without realising it. I've got places to BE, peoplez.

No clue why but i about 2 years prior to my surgery (before I even considered it) , my then boyfriend and I used to eat while watching 600lb Life (oh and Flip or Flop)

True. However, I am a movie buff, they have always been a large part of my life even before becoming morbidly obese. For me to become more social.. I'll have to learn to actually like socialising, and for that I'll need to like people. Anyways, I am sure I'll get more social, but I not neglect my TV, or Plex collection, haha.

It's like a traffic accident, you slow down and "rubberneck" . Oh you know you shouldn't, somebody just got injured maybe even killed, but human nature being what it is, you still watch. I suspect, also, if people watch they can't say to themselves " See I'm not THAT big!" I can handle things better than that" I wouldn't let a doctor talk that way to me, let a doctor act that way towards me!" Yeah a sense of superiority.And maybe as an appetite suppressant? Sometimes seeing how badly they wobble when they walk, it kills your appetite.
I agree with you ...
I felt better while watching and comforting my self - see you aren't so big ... you won't be like that ...
And there was a good side ...
I freaked out while watching - I don't want to be like this... not being able to walk , shower , or anything on my own .
Now , I don't watch it .
My surgery is coming soon - just 15 days [emoji27]

It’s taking some getting used to, but here goes only 25 days post-op (yes, counting days is something I didn’t used to do to lol)..
Drink daily (money spent on other things now)!
Buy food like I had a house full of Protein (just me and my daughter)
Eat out all the time (just because)
Yep..watch My 600lb Life and My Family Weighs a Tom!
Entertain stupid guys..just don’t
New Me (mentally and physically)!

      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

        Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

        Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

        I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

        I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

        BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
