Gastric sleeve and I have regained. Need help please

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I started my journey 4 years ago going on 5 in Dec at the time I weighed 278 within one year I was down to 144. I did great. I worked out 7 times a day. I watched and kept a diary of everything I ate. I seriously took care of my new pouch lol. I never felt restricted on my foods because I learned to cook healthier and it was good food. Well I started dating my husband 3yrs ago and we would party a lot and I started to eat late on the weekends so I gained 10lbs but I was fine I did not feel bad. Well a year ago I had my first baby and I only gained 30lbs but by the time I left the hospital (C-section so I stayed 3 days) I was already my pre baby weight so that was awesome. Well I became a stay at home mom eventually my baby started eating and snacking well mommy (me) Snacks and eats with her. To cut this short from Jan to now I have gained 40lbs 😭😭😭😭. My jeans don’t fit or fit extremely tight. I refuse to buy new clothes which means a bigger size. I started the ouch reset on Monday. It’s going good because I’m back to being determined and I feel motivated. I’m stuck I don’t remember how many carbs are we supposed to have, how many fats, and how much sugar. Can anyone help me out and tell me what they follow? I know Protein is 60-80 grams a day. I went shopping got my protein, liquids, and veggies so when I start my soft stage again.

I was never told a certain amount of carbs to eat. I was just told to start with Protein in my meals, and by the time I get to carbs, I won't be hungry for them. I do tend to keep carbs to around 40g though, that's including the 8 from my chewable Calcium and the 8 from my Protein Drinks.

Less than 40 carbs a day and of those total carbs less than 20 grams of them sugar ( this *may* get you into ketosis, the lower you go on the numbers the faster you'll get there)

Nesa, your story is my story! I had VSG in Mar 14. I got to a place in fall of 2015 where I felt amazing - had my baby in August 2016. Gained about 20 pds with pregnancy, lost immediately. Maintained my weight until she was around 3 months old and I had to stop pumping - and due to some major health complications she faced, I turned to food to combat my stress, anxiety, fear and depression - and never stopped. Fast forward to now where I am about 30 pounds over my happy place. Cannot seem to stop eating for all the WRONG reasons. I feel you!

I was told 60-80 grams of Protein and to stay under 50 carbs. I wasn’t given any guidelines about fat. Good luck!

It really is hard once you have fail back into old habits. I have been wanting to get back “on track” I continued to say ok I’m going to start tomorrow just like before surgery and I didn’t lol. But my clothes fitting me extra tight did it for me. I refuse to gain more weight and have to buy a bigger size. I want to get fit.

Im not quite sure which surgery you had.

I just had mine 7/26/18 so I took out my book for you and here's what it says for sleevers:

60-80 grams of Protein a day/ eat protein at all meals first

64 oz Fluid. Decaff, Non Carb, sugar free or less than 10 calories a serving

25 grams of Fiber per day

Multivitamins etc

30 minutes of exercise a day

Ultimately, I recommend seeing a dietician who can help you develop a plan that fits your life and can help you meet your goals! You have already invested in your weight loss, you might as well get a refresher to address the changes in your life!

Good Luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
