Shrinkin' Vi's Bandiversary Blow-Out Planning Post #2: Pick the House!

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

Here are 3 cabins from which to choose for our gathering the weekend of Fri., May 16 - Mon., May 19. Click on the links for complete detailed description of the ameneties, # of bedrooms, types of beds, pictures, etc. You'll immediately notice that there is one in each price range -- high, medium, & low. As of right now, we have 13 gals signed up to go, so the prices below reflect that. If more gals come, all the prices will go down. If some gals drop out, the prices will go up.

PLEASE VOTE FOR THE ONE YOU WANT! Or rank them w/ #1 being your fav, #2 2nd fav, #3 third choice. Majority rules!

I'll begin! My #1 is "Splash Mountain"! (A pool AND a workout room!); #2 is Beats Workin' (this is the one we stayed in last month); #3 is Ritz (unless gobs of other folks suddenly want to join us, I think it's just too big).

Your turn! Have fun!

Ritz on the Lake:

Total $4275.52 / 13 = $329 per person

Splash Mountain:

http://rentals.deepcreek.com/book/house.html?PMSUnitID=SPLMTN

Total $2636.99 / 13 = $203 per person

Beats Workin’:

Total $1266.57 / 13 = $98 per person

And not just to be a cheap person, I think Beats Workin looks nice, and for the cost it's a lot better deal

The only thing I see a problem with is the bedroom count. 5 bedrooms & 13 women.. hm.

I would worry if we commit to Ritz, and then some people drop out along the way for whatever reason, the cost would be really up there (for me anyway). Since that doesn't include our travel or anything.

Is the price for the total weekend, or per night?

Oh.. I just landed a new decent account in Rockville, MD today. How close is that?

The price per person is for the whole weekend, 3 nights, 4 days.

Beats Workin' is a great house... we enjoyed it a lot... I just thought for an additional $104 we get a pool (so I can teach my aquasize classes!) AND a work out room!

Rockville is VERY close to me... about 30-45 mins depending on traffic!

I'm so stinking excited!!!!!

I say #2 would be nice to have a pool and workout room, unless we are all too hung over to workout LOL

#1 would be good too... still has a hot tub... and fun stuff

#3 Ritz - i agree - too big and too expensive.. and if anyone backs out for emergency or whatever, it might be too much for my budget.

Once we decide, would you like me to send some money for deposit, and a firm commitment? I would be happy to do that.

I am off to the gym...

Not to knock the fun of a gym, but I don't work out on vacations.

So I'm not interested in the gym.. but understand if others are

My vote is for Splash Mountain! I wanna go to Michelles class. The Ritz is too much. Does anyone foresee anyone backing out. It is time to put up or shut up, lol. I think for all of us, Beats Workin is a bit small!

I vote for Splash Mountain!

#2 is Beats Workin'

#3 is Ritz

(for all the same reasons ya'll described)

I'd suggest that we pay 100% of the house up front so that if anyone backs out, the remaining folks are stuck with the cost.

#1 choice:: Splash Mountain (for space/pool/exercise room)

#2 choice:: Beats Workin' (cuz it's cheap....)

Ritz is just too expensive for me (considering adding travel and food expenses on top of it) :-(

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
