It is quite gratifying to feel guilty if you haven't done anything wrong, how noble! Whereas it is rather hard and certainly depressing to admit guilt and repent.***Hannah Arendt, philosopher.

That is definitely the truth. I’ve been super good since the 25th making sure to track macros and not cheat though I did cheat on Wednesday the 24th by having 1 Andes mint candies.

OMG, so many ...
I rushed through my stages and ate real food starting week 3. Week 3 I was at a work event and I drank, all week, and I ate everything but fibrous veggies. No ill effects at all, I have never looked back.
I had no preop diet, except liquids only the day before surgery. I had a burger that morning. I was taking magnisium citrate to clear me out that afternoon, I figured it would get flushed out (and it did!)
I drink diet soda almost everyday. I just can't do Water, or crystal light, etc., I can never get close to 64 oz without it. I drink fountain only, so not a lot of carbonation.
I just don't believe in the we must have 64 oz of water every day or it is some terrible bad thing. It is honestly so uniquely American. Europeans say they can tell American tourists by the bottle of water they always have with them. Presurgery, there were days I probably consumed 16 oz of liquid total, to no ill effect.
So, that's a lot of bad stuff. My surgeon's PA grudgingly signed off on the diet soda. I also have a good friend who's a GI, and he's a lot easier to have real conversations with (vs. my surgeon), and he signed off on all of the above, as long as I promised to stop if I had any issues at all.
Hi, i too seem to be able to eat anything at 7 weeks post. This weekend was my bday weekend and i put on 2 pounds. Back on track Sunday. Are you still losing weight? If so how many calories are you doing a day?

So I’m sleeved10/9 and am technically on the purée stage. Well my 15 daughter was pissing me off so bad that I grabbed a snack size kit Kat at her sports and just ate it, literally the last bite I realized what I did. Now my stomach is doing some kinda painful spasms. Crap! I really can’t believe I did that.

So glad this is here! I need to confess!!!! Lol I didn’t have a two week liquid diet pre surgery but I had to fast 24 hours before and nothing after 10 am that morning but liquids and nothing at all including Water after midnight. I can say I had a lot of food funerals the weeks before and I actually gained 4 lbs the day of weigh in for surgery :(. So the first week about day five or six when I could do Clear Liquids I consumed 2 32oz bluebell vanilla ice cream cups....& I got soooooooo sick! I did not and currently do not want ice cream anymore blah! You think I learned my lesson then, right? NOPE. So second week into full liquids...I found I could suck and chew down Doritos chips and spit it out...I just needed to chew something!! Then I ventured to find Cheetos white cheddar puffs and did the same thing except I learned I could swallow a little bit with no sickness. So glad to could get that off my chest. Now I’m on soft foods and I honestly have found three recipes on the Baritastic app that has helped me so far. I am using a kids spoon and measuring out two tablespoons of food at a time. TBH I am scared that I will fail at this keeping up with Protein and eating enough. Thanks for forum post :).
What recipes?

Nope, no sweats or heart issues... I got crampy/mildly nauseous, but that was it.

You've been to, or know what "Subway" the sandwich place is right... how you pick the toppings you want, same idea. They make the donuts fresh, you pick from like 6-10 different glazes and then up to 2 toppings from a large selection of toppings. And there's your donut.

Matt - I live in RI too. Where is this place?? Oh wait - maybe I don’t want to know! Lol

The day before my 24-hour, liquid only Surgery Eve (that was a mouthful!), I had three bags of popcorn. My rationale: I was eating SkinnyPop 100cal bags...now staying out of Costco! When I really, really thought about no popcorn for six months, I indulged and savored every piece.

My post got deleted. Geez, people are too sensitive and can’t take a joke.
Ok, cheats. Let’s see, can’t really think of anything too dramatic. In my second week of recovery, I did eat a bunch of ground turkey and threw up in the kitchen sink. That was pretty uncool.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
