Calling all vets- where are you

Recommended Posts

Vets- how many of you are still 'regulars' here? I still want to chat with people about being in the bariatric community, and really enjoy the support I get from forums, but it seems like there's almost NOBODY here that was here 4 years ago...

Me. Almost five years. I am not here daily anymore
but at least once a week.

I check in once a month or every other month. Most of the vets have left.

I still check in once in a while. It’s been 5+ years for me.

I am only 2 1/2 years but I still check in every once in awhile. I came on today as I am sturggling so I came back hoping to find some others whom might be struggling also and maybe we could support each other. If there are any of you interested, will share more later about what has been happening, when you say you want support too. Hope to hear from some of you.

Truth be told: most or the threads are not interesting anymore once you're a while out. The plastic surgery threads are only interesting for those living in the US, not e. g. European countries.

As for "vet advice": I've become quite a cynic about that.

On and off since 2011. More on back in 2011/2012 and recently after my revision.

technically a 13 year vet, but the system only let me on the vets forum recently because of my revision date. almost a year in maintenance post revision, so only check in once in a while.

I'll be three years out from having the VSG next month. :) I just popped back on here because I wanted to find a banana "pancake" recipe someone shared a year ago (it's just 1 banana mashed with two eggs and cooked on a griddle, haha) and I never tried because I've been avoiding bananas until recently. I like seeing familiar faces here like Kathy's!

hey bud

ahhhh, my friend/hero

always nice to see you "slumming" from lapband board

you are the exception to the rule about lappers - you've

had a couple of issues, but all in all doing great w/lapband

Who loves ya baby?;)

Today is the first time I've logged on in several months. Not sure what happened, probably just got too busy during the day (since I am usually online during my work day) and got away from it.

November will be 4 years for me. My weight has been holding fairly steady for about 2 years now, but have yet to get to goal; still about 50 lbs. left to lose to get there. I have not given up on trying to get to goal. Having trouble getting kick started again though which is a bummer. Still exercising and am still healthy. Even made it through 2 surgeries last year without gain weight - gall bladder removal and shoulder surgery (not full rotator cuff, but close).

Every day that I don't give up is a successful day.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
