Happy 4th!!.. I'm So F**king Over Broth!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! Been watching this forum for a while but this is my first post. Had my VSG on June 28,2018 and had a terrible ordeal (enlarged liver, surgeon found a hernia and had to repair it, extreme vomiting for 2.5 days straight in the hospital, and severe dehydration because I was too afraid to swallow anything but my own saliva). But I made it through! 7days post-op today and I've been on nothing but broth, Jello, ice chips and popsicles and I'm sick of it! I also have a lot of the air/gas they put in me for the procedure and it's like a every 10-20mins painful surge that goes thru your stomach and chest, like contractions or something, and I just have to brace myself until it passes. Can't wait till all the gas is out. Other than that I don't have much major pain, but if I do, codine is right there next to me to lend its druggy hand..

But! As you know it was July 4th yesterday and they were BQQing on my block, so my friends and BF came over. And the way my mouth drooled over those ribs, hot dogs, burgers, and MAC AND cheese, you would've thought I was a rabid animal lmao. But nonetheless, I just rolled my eyes at each scrumptious plate passing my face and drank my dinner and followed up with my strawberry and lemon Jello to make me feel better. And I all kept saying in my head was "You're gonna look better than all of them one day, so don't worry and keep going." Lmao! That leads me to the bright side of all these pain and struggles-- 17lbs downs as of today!!! Whoop whoop!!! ((HAPPY DANCE)) Now I'm sure it's mostly due to the clear liquid diet I've been on, but still what a difference a week makes! My current struggle is getting all this Water (64oz) down in one day, i barely finish a 16 oz bottle in one day, but I'm trying because dehydration is SCARY!!.. Keep going guys we can do this!!! Hi! I had my surgery July 3rd. Still adjusting to this all liquid! I hope you continue to do well. I know all about seeing other people eating. But I just stick to my bottle of liquid. 🙂

Wow hello fellow Brooklynite! And congrats on your new surgery. Its sucks that broth is not only our enemy, but it's also our best friend lol[emoji17][emoji17]

I was sleeved on the 6/28 as well. I'm still on broth...so over it! Your lucky that you can have the Jello. My body is rejecting sugar-free ;( broth, herbal teas and Water for me. It's challenging,

I agree. I bought way too much Bone Broth and now I'm having a staring contest with the stuff every day. Turkey, chicken, beef... I want none of it. Maybe I can sneak it into my 19-year-old son's meals. He'll eat anything.

Use the broth to make yummy blended veggie Soups. The extra veggies will make it taste much better?

My youngest son prefers homemade noodles with the broth. I'm a scratch cook.

I was sleeved July 5 and I've advanced to full liquids. I think you guys will feel so much better when you get to that stage. I never want to see another bowl of broth! Keep on pushing!

Today was a weighing/measuring day, and I've discovered that I've lost 10 inches in my waist since the beginning of August!  This is great news, as I carry most of my weight in my belly, which is no good.  I'm glad I am measuring because I can see results even though I'm going through a stall.

Going to my 3rd of 6 NUT appointments tomorrow.  Between appt 1 and appt 2, I lost about 14 pounds, but I'm pretty sure that tomorrow I'm going to weigh in at either no change or will have gained weight.  I haven't worked hard at all this last month and in some regards feel like I'm regressing.
My INS requires a 5% weight loss in 6 months, so it's not impossible to get back on track, just need to focus more.  The only difference between last month and this month is that I've not been getting as much sleep at night and I think it's been contributing to my extra issues with snacking at night and general misbehavior.

As of today, I have lost 60lbs since my journey began (first WLS appt)! Most of that weight has been lost in October,  since I weighed 282 on 10/2 and I now weigh 239, (25lbs down since surgery). I can't believe it! Wish my clothes would be falling off, but not quite there yet. I'm super excited about the progress I've made so far and even more motivated to lose, especially before vacation
