1st day of pre-op diet - 8 hours in - absolutely starving!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello, I’m 18 days to starting my 2 week pre-op diet and I’m sort of scared.
I’ve been on a liquid diet before but I wasn’t as restricted nor did I pay attention to the nutrition labels on the shakes I was drinking (turns out they were just empty calories with more sugar than anything else). This time I’m only allowed 3-4 shakes that have 20g Protein and less than 5g of sugar, and Water.

Last time, I was nauseas almost every day and always had a headache. Also I found it very hard to stick with it when I have to cook real food for my family. Anyone else have any of the same issues? If anyone could suggest better ways to prep for the 2 weeks of hunger hell I will be enduring, I’d greatly appreciate it.
Thank you in advanced 😊

Blend ice in your shakes- it’ll make them thicker and you’ll be a bit more full (like a frappe)

Sand I feel spoiled with my nicer prediet, I shall punish myself by doing,it for nearly 5 weeks and my fat little NASH liver will be 12% smaller, shinier and easier to pry out of the way for my surgeo. See I found an opinion from smart researching doctors that the liver diminishes 2.4% for every, week you prediet. Stuck a sign on my fridge to encourage me on. And now, having finished this news, it's back to the chilled Protein Shake for me!🍶

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
