I had my surgery May 16th. I lost 11 pounds at my 2 week appointment. I had a RNY to fix my Fundalupacation that had come undone, repair my hiatal hernia that was way worse then he thought. At the 2 week appointment he told me that he didn’t use as much intestine as a regular RNY and my stomach is bigger that a true RNY! Now I’m mad! I go through all of this and I might not loose as much weight! But I’m still determined to get to my goal weigh!

Hello from England to all May 2018 Losers!
I had my RNY on 29th May and feel pretty good.
I’m a bit worried I’m not getting any feedback as I can slowly (over about an hour) sip about 300mls and feel fine.
I’m hoping maybe it’ll come when I start purée and more solid foods.
Anyone else experienced similar?

Hey!
I am from England too and I had my surgery on the same day as you - congratulations!
I’m not really getting any feedback either as long as i sip slowly so I think that’s pretty normal, or at least I hope so 😊

i'm 4 days post op and have had near diarrhea for all my BM's. :( other than that it's been pretty good. pain is very minimal. and i just realized that i havent had any diabetic foot pain since op day. yay! i'm off ALL pre op meds. now just on ritidine (sp?) to protect against gall stones. stuff tastes horrible! but the lesser of 2 evils i guess. i still nap a lot.

I had a similar problem. Try a Protein other than whey and see if that helps.

Make sure you differentiate between diarrhea and just looser stool. When all you have is liquid going in, liquid is going to come out.

Diarrhea is more frequent bowel movements throughout the day and a feeling of not being able to hold it.

if you’re having one or two bowel movements a day, I would say that’s normal (according to my team).

I also learned I can’t handle milk based Protein cause I was having the worst diarrhea with that. Hope you feel better!

No puking, very little discomfort, havent takin any pain pills. I tasted mashed potatoes yesterday. Less then half a teaspoon and they tasted great. I sip Water or Protein Shake all day. Finally able to sleep on my side. Yayyyyyy and im going back to work on Wed. Hopefully it dont kick my butt. Lol

Hi all! I’m 18 days post-op. Surgery was 5/16, and had VSG. I’m still having trouble getting all my fluids in, and I try my hardest w Protein. I’m tired of all the sweet stuff, and I really want salt!
My phase will change on Tuesday, so I can’t wait to have some cottage cheese
I’m down between 17 & 20lbs. I’m nervous to go back to the dr bec I have not lost anything in the past 2 weeks. Anyone else stall so soon after surgery?

You dropped a lot of weight already! That’s awesome. The hospital gave me cottage cheese the day after my surgery so I have been eating it daily since then. I’m only 6 days post op. Now I’m wondering if I wasn’t supposed to eat it???

5/21 was my date, and things are better than I thought as far as recovery, but I’m really struggling with being surrounded by food I just can’t have.

5/31 RNY er here and I was out weeding my garden in the rain today. My throat seems to be more sore today, but otherwise, I have only had to buy a body pillow so I can sleep on my side. I easily get my fluids in. If I didn't have incisions, I'd question it being done! I'm being so careful with stivking to my program because I don't want to jinx anything.

Hello everyone my name is Laura. I had my RNY on 5/22/18. I hit a little bump in the road with the purée phase . First I tried eggs and threw them up. Next I tried taco meat and well that’s kept me up all night belching, cramping, regurgitating and finally vomiting. My Dr said when you vomit with an RNY the pouch becomes irritated and needs some time to heal so back to Clear Liquids for me . I’m still trying to keep down one bottle of Water for today. Getting used to this new way of eating is a bit tricky sometimes lol.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
