PJTP - Why would someone who has just spent years of their life preparing to enter a profession, cheat on the national licensure exam?? YEARS of education lost, countless tens of thousands of dollars in education spent, no chance to ever sit the exam again, and now an entry on a criminal record........................and worst of all, I have to deal with the fallout of this person being caught...this will take months to deal with!

Why would anyone risk everything?

Sounds bad! I'm sorry... :smile2:

Well, it is bad for the fool who cheated, but deserved. However, as it will become a legal issue, it's a real PITA for me....documentation out the ying-yang; statements; interviews; professional conduct meetings...............

I hate that it has to be done; am astounded that anyone would do it; and pissed off on the colossal waste of time and money to educate this person. Idiot!

I'm hoping your part in this is on the professional hassle and not on the personal end.

Some people are too stupid for words.

Why would anyone risk everything?

For the thrill of the rush. It's the same reason why I annually bet my life savings on a single high-stakes blackjack game. It's also what drove me to become the regional "Russian Roulette" champion.

As the profession's representative on professional practice standards and conduct, I am involved in the investigation from beginning to the end. Wish I didn't have to be...but then again, I'm the goodie-two-shoes who really can't understand why someone would ever do anything outside the law (of society or decent behavior).

LIfe is just so much easier if you follow the rules...

ugh them rules - hate em'

laws i follow (99% of the time) rules in my mind - are meant to be challenged/tweeked/taken under advisement/ & CHANGED when they are deemed bulls&*t.

no idea why someone would jeopardize their livelihood - i've seen it done to families w/cheating, can't imagine the thrill being that great. but i try to live on the edge each day to deter such "thrill seeking" :smile2:... especially w/my $$$$$.

Man, you guys have been busy! There is no way I can recap on it all. I can be pretty flexible on the time frame for the TX trip as long as I know before November to request the vacation time.

G4E-I am so glad that you have some relief from the pain!

Tap-I don't understand why anyone would do something so stupid as cheat on something so important. That is beyond stupid and such a waste.

PJTP: I have an eclectic music collection...the last 4 songs on my IPOD were: Charlotte Church singing Amazing Grace; Billie Holiday - Strange Fruit; Usher's Here I Stand; Fleetwood Mac with Rhiannon.

You may now resume normal postings....

While I don't condone cheating on tests, I do tell DD this same thing. A few times it's kicked me in the ass, though.

Even my rules are sometimes BS, based on how I feel. She's free to challenge me - nicely - and then I will rethink it. But, if she's bratty and just being grumpy then I don't rethink anything except "why did I have a kid?".

I've told her if she can legitimately explain her side of something, then I'll give her a pass. Now she wants to be a lawyer. I'm worried she'll be winning more now that she's getting older and can think things through more.

I'm a rules kinda gal...I don't believe we need 80000000 laws, just an appreciation for 'life rules'. Basics such as:

1. If it isn't yours, don't touch it.

2. Before saying/doing anything, think of how it will affect someone else. That covers everything from an able bodied person parking in a designated disabled spot, expectorating on the sidewalk, playing loud music at 2am, driving styles....and so on)

3. Respect the person - you may not like their ideas/music/politics/religion/decorating style/ lifestyle - but that is immaterial, you respect the person.(Obviously until such time as they have demonstrated that they are not deserving of respect, and then ignore them)

4. If you disagree with a law/rule, work within the rules to change it.

5. Respect the environment and all the creatures....even snakes.

6. Don't lie, don't cheat, don't intentionally hurt someone.

simple. Imagine how easy life would be....

And now I must return to the Rhohan Fanfare (from the LOTR soundtrack).....

I'm a rules kinda gal.......

i think your list is basic humanity social "norms" for living rather than 'rules'....which i hope most do follow.

the reason "rules" annoy me so much is you can't apply your view of them upon another.

perfect example is here on this site ""it's against the rules to eat pasta/rice/bread""... um, no - no it's not.

just my hangup......off to clean the pool, but i like your music this am taps:tongue:

And to me 'norms' means they are 'normal' behavior, and sadly, they aren't! (Then again, maybe I just see too many of the ab-normal-ers and am warped!)

Im not sure my coworkers are as appreciative of my music...or could it be my singing along that they don't like???? NAH, that can't be it! Who wouldn't love to have me belting out Inna Godda Davida:lol:

PJTP: Kind of a blah day. Still waiting for the phone to ring, and went for a fill today. Was UP .4, which is not the direction to go, but at least it was only that little bit.

Last fill I got he accidentally way overfilled me -- took me from 4.6 to 5.8, intending to hit 5.2. Went for an unfill on day two and he said he took me to 5. Went in today and come to find out, he actually took me back down to 4.6. No WONDER I've been hungry ever since! I thought I was losing my ever lovin' mind, thinking I had had an increase in cc and was hungrier than I was before the fill.

So... another month lost. Granted, I take full responsibility for having let stresses affect me to where I haven't been making excellent choices or exercising enough, but dang...

The GOOD news is I'm going with a girlfriend to Ocean City tomorrow through Sunday, so I'm happy with that.

For now... bwahahahaha.

Wow, he doesn't sound like a very good fill doc. I'd be mightily pissed, if I were you.

As for rules, I like one they have at DD's school:

"If it bothers someone, you have to cut it out."

We now use that one at home.

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
