Mine never pulled an ER run, probably only because she's too full of bitch and miserable. :grouphug:

She has her men running. Husband and two sons. And when I came along, she wasn't very receptive even before meeting me. Her first comment to hubby upon hearing he was serious with a girl was, "Is she fat?" Of course then I was about 160 -- not trim, but hardly FAT.

She has tried at times to run my life, and as time went on, I finally quit worrying that this was my husband's mother. She was just downright crossing lines left and right.

One time hubby and I were in a rough patch, and I just needed to get away -- and frankly, it wasn't all because of him. Just life was difficult at that time. So I got away to clear my head and hopefully come back not wanting to slit my wrists with a spork.

They talk while I'm gone and he TELLS her! So then for months she starts in on him with, "Well, you know, divorce is not out of the question." When she and I talked one time and she said it to me, I said, "Gee, I hope you don't really mean this!" She never mentioned it again.

Oh, did I tell you how she bullied me into signing a pre-nup before we married? Yeah, she's a peach.

The straw that broke the camel's back was before we moved to VA. Hubby was already here working a contract job, and it looked like we were moving after nearly four years of rocky job issues for him (two years without work, one year in Kuwait, another year-plus here in VA). Kiddo was 17 and at an awkward age in the best of situations, but she didn't want to leave home. I understood, but didn't know what to do as she was JUST 17. We got into a huge fight and she left home. At one point before I packed to move here, kiddo called and told me how grandma started running me down to her. WTF??? That was it, the gloves were off.

When we got here and settled in, I MADE hubby choose (which I had never done before) -- either HE was going to set that bitch straight, or I was, and I don't think anybody was gonna come out alive if I did it. :grouphug:

He called her and first she tried shouting him down, then she tried guilting him, then she played the "poor me" card, then she asked why I even cared what she said about me, and it went on and on for an hour. Now I am persona non grata. It's as if I don't exist. Nice.

The woman is a total skank, and I have no love whatsoever for this person. I have put up with disrespect and disdain for 16 years, and for NO reason whatsoever. And unfortunately, my husband is too much of a wuss to do anything substantial about it. He just lets her say whatever and would piddle himself before upsetting HER. :grouphug:

Your MIL and Luluc's MIL makes me glad that my MIL basically just acts as though I don't exist.

WOW - You guys and your mil's...I don't have one. My mother is everybody's best MIL - just today DH said "I like having her around; I miss having a mother'. She was supposed to be visiting for a week, but DH convinced her to stay at least one more week. My ex still calls and talks with her; my brother's ex-wife still calls, writes and visits her, sends her mother's day cards, etc. My mother is great - she gets along with everyone, and everyone loves her. It's just ME that she drives NUTS!!!

After all of the preparations, the in-laws didn't show up. Not only did they not show up, they didn't even bother to call to say that they weren't going to show up. How inconsiderate is that?

That is really inconsiderate. That is rude not to even call.

Sorry Slim!

There, I multiquoted the hell out of that post to make up for my prior lack......also to put my thumb in SNT and Susan's eye as the multiquote king!

Plain - you had to be taught how to multi-post. The student does NOT surpass the teacher. Dream on.

We need more intelligent men around here....should that be so hard??

We have an intelligent man in here???:crying:

***whispering to make sure plain doesn't hear***I hate to admit this, but it makes my day to come on here and read some of the ridiculous things written by plain.

Bahahaha - Slim called Plain "ridiculous", Slim called Plain "ridiculous"!!!!

But Plain HASN'T 'shown his goods' yet, has he???

There is a God. :wink2:

As an example, years ago she would call and I'd answer, and we'd have small talk, then she would ask, "So, are you still fat?"

My retort: "Are you still stupid? Oh yeah, obviously!" or "Fat can be temporary; stupid/ugly is forever!!"

I kid you not. And I can't even begin to tell you the years I tolerated her telling me that hubby and I should NOT have children. Until I told her that it was really OUR decision now, wasn't it? Grrrr.... And that's just a wee taste.

My retort: Hmm, I don't remember asking you. 0:-)

It's just ME that she drives NUTS!!!

Short drive? :)

That is beyond rude!!!!!!! Sent them a bill for the extra food!

WHAT??? Hate to ask, but are y'all sure they're alive/safe?

Beth - I know you didn't mean that as funny but it struck me as funny. I want to say "Slim hopes so" but that would be disrespectful so I'm behaving this once.

Happy Thanksgiving, Americanos! Happy uh Friday (right?), Australians!

Beth/Luluc - you'll appreciate this. I had just gotten to my cousin's for lunch and some commercial had played and another cousin's husband facetiously said, "Well that'll all get better now that Obama is prez." This poor child doesn't know me very well b/c I turned to him and said, "Now that the out-of-towners are here, this house is no longer 100% Republican. I'm really loaded for bear for a political discussion so I'd really drop it if I were you!!" From then on, we discussed his precious (almost) 3 year old. Seriously, 2 average looking people had the cutest child!!! Yes I'm mean.

And PS - no, I'm not spoiling for a political discussion on here; I thought B+L would recognize and laugh at my smart ass response, hopefully.

Yep. The husband talked to them last night (they called his cell phone so that I wouldn't answer). It still chaps my butt though.

Am I the only one that had to work today? It is really quiet here this morning. I hope that it stays that way so that I can actually get some work done.

best line of the day - MIL "best indication of how my son is going to treat you is how he treats me"...this after her crying to me that he never calls her. FANTASTIC

Basically they had a better invitation. They went to his cousin's house instead.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
