PJTP...heading out for a political fundraiser soon - DH is running for Board of Ed (yes, he's DH again after being on probation for a while...)

Thanks Slim!

Good news/Bad news....

Good news - for the first time since I was about oh maybe 9, I fit into a SINGLE DIGIT sized clothing!!!! I don't care that it was a somewhat stretchy fabric and a manufacturer known for clothes that are a little big, I fit into a size 8......WHOO-HOO!!!

You go girl! That's so awesome! :blushing::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

And because I was just so stunned, I left the dressing room (another first, I usually hide in them), walked out and asked a saleslady if I was reading the tag correctly!! And THEN, because I was on a roll, I bought another pair, different color AND 2 new shirts...those unfortunately will always necessitate double-digit sizes.

Bad news - there was frost last night. Flowers are wilted. Winter is soon coming....

BUT I FIT A SIZE 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay!

PS Would it be so wrong to only buy that manufacturers clothing for the rest of my life???

No, it wouldn't be...I'd do it!

Longtime lurker, first time poster in this thread. I like my fish fried...

Me too...that is, when I could EAT fish - recent fill has me quite restricted (and that's a GOOD thing right now)

No seriously, I had to give you a fist pump and say congratulations!!! That is amazing.

What she said!

PJTP -

You all know that the job front for me has been a little crazy. Layoffs are around once or twice a month since the beginning of the year. I work for a large oil tool company that just recently decided to merge all the divisions (a total of 9). I work as an admin in the Import/Export Compliance dept.

So, with the announcement of the merge, we were told that we were moving to another building across town. I was told I'd work under Ms. Z with my co-worker Princess, but it wasn't made official.

Then Princess was out last week and Ms. Z was notified and I was cc'd on the email...and Ms. Z sent an email asking if anyone there could do the imports while Princess was out.

My first thought was, "If I'm on Z's roster, then why doesn't she know I exist???" I immediately replied with a "look at me!" email.

Good for you - being proactive...

Another email came out later that was generic, from the big-big boss, and I sent an email with a few well-worded questions and was told that pretty soon I'll be moving under Ms. M. M??? wth? When did that change? So, still not knowing what's what, I let it rest a few days.

Yesterday our group was invited to go to the other location and participate in a cookout they were having. I had a BALL!!! When we got back I sent an email to the big boss that I wanted to talk to him.

He called me later at home! I was not prepared for that.

He said I was safe, I had a home there and that I was getting a promotion. (Title only, grade and $$ won't come while layoffs are happening, but will later.) I won't be an admin, I'll be handling exports along with a team of others whom I adore!

Yay! Go Glouc Go!

I am so relieved and so happy. I had an interview for another department and now I'm thinking of cancelling that. It's not at all appealing, but it was a job and I was worried...now, I'm soooo happy beyond belief!!!

I would definately cancel the interview...give them time to notify someone else, since YOU got a promotion!

Sorry for the lengthy post!!!

DH's 'rent are almost here...need to finish cleaning up a bit. Ya'll have a GREAT weekend!

Hot damn! That is awesome Tap!!!!!:thumbup:

What she said!

Yay Glouc! That is great news.

Yah! What she said!

Tap and Glou - Congratulations to you both!!!!! That is so awesome and well deserved for both of you!

Absolutely, positively, yes!

ROCKSTARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Definately ROCKSTARS!!!!

Having a good day - went for a leisurely walk this morning with DH and DDog - have the Diabetes walk tomorrow, which I'm planning to wog / jog / walk / run...my DD is doing it with me, so I kinda have to stay with her, but I'm going to jog as much as I can. Don't know the terrain (it's a bit cross-country if I remember from past walks) so I'll be careful...don't want a twisted ankle.

I raised $150.00 - my goal was $250.00, but I started late, so I'm not too upset. I'm just happy to be able to DO the walk on behalf of some with Diabetes who can't...I'm walking for my DDM (Dear Departed Mother) and DDMIL - I know they are cheering me on from heaven...:crying:

Gotta go - DH is finally ready to go out the door to the fundraiser...BBL!

It's one of those good news/bad news things.

Good news is it used to take a LOT more to get me drunk (not that I did it often -- I'm sure it had to do more with my bulk).

Bad news is I lost an ENTIRE studying day.

Good luck on your wog tomorrow! You are doing a great thing, AND benefitting yourself as well. Be careful and have some fun/bonding time with DD.

Mojitos. Yeah. I'm just NOW getting up.

And I'm just sitting down getting ready to go to bed. I'm packed for my trip; another couple of quarts of applesauce made; a zillion loads of laundry are done (all the towels and facecloths from the eye experience - every time I used one, it went into the pile...tomorrow, perhaps I can rest?

I hope everyone is having a wonderful night.

I am sitting down to a delightful dinner I just made, pineapple mojito in hand - contemplating which drink to have next.

I'm also quite excited about the real ice cream I am going to let myself have tonight since I walked 18.2 miles today (one of my last long training walks for the marathon)

For those of us up tonight - maybe we'll talk later

I'm HOPING with all the sleeping I did today I'll be up really early in order to utilize my day fully. I had HOPED my university life would have included jock raids instead of drinking, since I've been legal now for 26 years... :blushing:

We did a family wood cutting day today. All the kids, load up, take food, and off we go into the wild blue yonder to cut and haul wood for the winter. We got about 4 cords---and I am exhausted!

Here we are out on this mesa---overlooking an amazing canyon--which we drive up and down---as we scout for down or dead trees. I look at my phone and there was a missed call--well DH had been using it with work, so I redial it, and a woman answers....I say I missed a call from this #---and it was Paula----G4E----OUR Paula! She had some last minute questions regarding her thyroid surgery which is scheduled for Tuesday, and the # that they give her for her Dr. is not the right #!!!

She ask about all of you, and said she could do without her computer, but she missed LBT terribly! So hello from G4E---and don't forget her on Tuesday! I now have her # and will call and check on her and report here.

It was great talking to her!!

Tap---my first size 8's I was in tears over! I am still not a solid size 8. I can usually walk in to any store and grab a size 10 and it will work, but lots of the 8's will not span my waist. The hips work great, but not the waist always. Size 8 jeans, that are low rise, are an easy fit, not so if the rise is higher--my waist is not as defined as it needs to be obviously!!!

Ebony good luck on the walk, wogging!! I am proud of you!!!

Well I am exhausted, I am going to go to bed!

Heart you feeling better?????

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
