Good luck with the job, I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you as well.

I am bound and determined to get to feeling better. I see the surgeon on Monday and hopefully he will take this silly gall bladder out in a hurry!!!!

Thanks, Susan.

My gall bladder was a real episode. First my doctor misdiagnosed me for four freakin' months; and when it finally went, it went bad. I had my husband take me to the emergency room after a horrible bout of vomiting for hours and hours and pain worse than natural childbirth. The real pisser about it was once I got out of the hospital and looked up my problem, I was textbook. TEXTBOOK. I should have been diagnosed months prior and had something done rather than going through misery for four freakin' months. So yes, I understand the whole gall bladder thing. :)

On a lighter note, her unshaved armpits and legs (and I can only assume other parts) made me glad I wasn't a hippie in the late 60's / early 70's.

Not that I would want to offend my non-shaving female friends. I understand for some it's a lifestyle choice.

For some, it's pure laziness. :) (Except for my armpits - I can't stand not to shave them.) There's just so much surface area on my legs! Too much work sometimes.

Drive-by PJTP: Interview felt good, went on for an hour. Asked tons of questions and what-ifs. The job I originally applied for was supervising 8, but they did some internal moving around and filled that spot, leaving open the supervisor position I interviewed for today which supervises 15.

Anyway, they should know something next week. Here's hopng, praying, and crossing fingers.

Good luck Beth; we're rooting for you!

I hope so Susan!

Patchouli is THE MOST DISGUSTING SCENT EVER!!!

I'm glad someone else feels that way about Patchouli...nauseating! One thing about working in healthcare - most environments are scent-free so rarely do I experience the war of the perfumes/body sprays anymore.

It's 330 am - why am I up???? I know I am an early riser, but this is ridiculous!! Anyone else up? Any of the Aussies around...Fanny? She? Hey, I haven't seen any posts from She recently...

I'm here. I have been up since 2. I am not getting email notifications so I didn't realize anyone else had been on here. How are you this fine (freaking early) morning? I went to sleep too early last night. I am now paying for it. It is going to be a really long day.

Good luck Beth!

I am so glad it is Friday! t-storms are predicted for today, but it will be warm (at least warm for here - about 60 degrees). My boss has gone to Las Vegas for a conference so the office will be quiet..

I suppose I should get my rear in gear...time to get to the morning fitness routine. Catch you in a few hours....

Morning fitness? You know, it is pathetic that I get up so early in the morning and had not thought about using that time to exercise. It would be perfect since no one else is up. I hate how I look when I exercise, so I am mortified when either DS or DH sees me.

I hope that you have a great, quiet Friday at the office Tap. My boss is going fishing (it's supposed to be like 80 today)so I get to be his stand in (along with my regular duties). Thankfully, we do get extra pay for standing in for the boss.

PJTP: One of my patients last night was an old hippie that was high-yi-yi.....I almost got a contact buzz.

On a more sad note, the sweetish odor of the pot mixed with the patchooli (sp?) she doused herself with was making me a little ill.

Gotta love the contact highs. I managed convenience stores for yrs. That was a daily occurrence in that business.

Does anyone else find it disturbing that Pain, oops sorry Plain, recognizes and knows the name of that nasty perfume? I am allergic to a lot of perfumes, but to me patchooli smells like bug spray, Raid to be exact.

Gotta go, By have a good day!

Morning fitness - get it over with, is my philosophy. Besides there are fewer people at the Y, and that means more access to the machines...and usually the whirlpool to myself after.

So now Im at the office, morning routines done, coffee in hand, music playing ........ahhhh, peace and quiet.

I love peace and quiet. That is what I have right now. I have been drinking on a low carb slim-fast for over an hour and still haven't finished it. I really wasn't even hungry to begin with but knew I needed fuel. Is this what restriction is about?

I am so glad that I don't know the perfume (or stink spray) that you all are talking about. I really hate loud perfume. There is a lady that works with me that leaves her smell behind for at least 20 minutes. If I can smell you well after you are gone, it is too much.

Gah! I just can't imagine not shaving! I am very very smell-sensitive. Patchouli is THE MOST DISGUSTING SCENT EVER!!!!

guess odd man out - love the smell of patchouli, have a candle infused w/it burning right now.

then again i'm a dead head w/a hippie mom. my first concert my parents took me to was the greatful dead @ the age of 4.....so i developed a fondness for it..:)

shaving - hate it; so i go the waxing route - but am looking into laser hair removal. my friend did her arm pits/bikini line w/great results.

tgif~

I have no idea what patchooli smells like...or maybe I do and didn't recognize the scent?

As a former stoner, I do freak my friends out because I like the smell of skunks.

Shaving: I'm lucky enough to have fine, soft non-noticable hair, so I only shave legs like, once every 2 months during long pants season. Shorts weather means more frequent, just 'cuz. Pits, though? Every other day, cause ew!

PJTP: Didn't move a muscle yesterday. Came home after appraisers left, and considered a nap. I laid down in the bed and then DD joined and talked about her day, which I'd never NOT listen to. Getting her to talk at all is a blessing! Then dogs joined, and that was the end of any nap I'd been thinking about! Had late dinner, watched recorded shows (Hells Kitchen, Survivor, The Office) and went to bed.

PJTP...I didn't get any email notifications this morning! I missed all the good posts so far! :)

Luckily I'm a LBT junkie, so I had to log in and get my fix...

Everyone in the office is over on the main campus handing Welcome Weekend for the newly admitted students...that means peace and quiet here for me in the office. :w00t:

I'm being such a good girl, I even did some work this morning! Ooops - don't tell anyone!

Looking forward to a wonderful weekend - relaxing and sunny - means I'll get out for a lot of walks, do some gardening, etc. I LOVE Spring!

Have a terrific day, everyone!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
