The nurse began whispering with the receptionist, and then she called me over and said that they wouldn't charge me for my fill this time, and they will work with me on my future ones. .

Sorry to hear about the insurance snafu, and delighted to hear that the nurse and receptionist were so kind.

They know a little of what happened, but not all of it. I told them about some of the "issues" they had with my performance, and they were shocked and surprised. Both of them are on my side - or at least that's what they say, and their actions do back it up. One of the girls in particular seems to be taking it harder - she actually said this morning that "the trust has been broken".

They both see me as a peer, though most often in a supervisory capacity because of my title and because they are both temporary employees.

I've had my emotional moments about this whole thing...normally I NEVER cry at work, but I've had a couple of moments in the bathroom when I let a few tears fall. I think its the personal feeling of betrayal and the feeling that I've been blindsided that are the worst. My supervisor did not even let on that she had this kind of problem with me - I thought everything was at least okay, if not perfect. I do know I've made a few mistakes in the past couple of weeks, but I NEVER thought it would get me hauled in front of the department's HR Director. That was, to me, over-the-top. If she can't handle supervising me (for whatever reason) then she should find another way, but doing what she did was just unconscionable (sp?).

Now she tries to act like nothing has happened, but I'm not buying it. She'll need ME before I need her...my relationship with her is now strictly by-the-book, and I feel free to laugh, giggle and relate in a friendly manner with everyone ELSE in the department just the way I always have.

I don't know what caused it, and I'm getting to the point where I don't really care - it's HER problem, but she has made it mine, so I'm going to document, document, document and cover my butt. As soon as I can find a way, I'm outa here - as far as I know, she's not going anywhere, and I'll get to the point where I can't stand to look at her anymore, so before it goes that far, I'll leave.:sad:

As for your golden child co-worker, there's really nothing you can do about it, talking to her would be a silly mistake as you've stated yourself, why should she give up her elevated status and become a regular worker bee like everyone else just because you ask nicely? The only result would be that she'd resent you for assuming that you were in some kind of a position to tell her what to do and then she'll be out to get you. Just enjoy her company and only do the minimum back up work for her and let it pile up on her to do list (maybe that will set off some sparks with her managers).

Ebony - sorry about your troubles. While all the advice given by everyone else is good advice, what good are all those copious notes going to do when you are so stressed by working in a hostile environment you end up having stroke or an ulcer? Much better to take a spiritual approach by doing the best you can and trying to remain positive and acting positive towards everyone else around you. When someone has taken a negative action against you and you respond with positive energy, it kind of disarms them and they will pause a little longer next time they consider taking a negative action against you. It's really hard to be mean to someone who is nice to you all the time.

Remember awhile back I was complaining about working with a girl on drugs? Now she is in jail. She came up with a dirty UA. My boss, the attorney says she will stick by her. She feels like Christey needs her. I just don't get it. You would think an attorney would not want someone with a felony on their record as an employee.

Omg, so many things sound like what was happening at my work. I have tried over and over to get along with the girl who became THE boss, but at the end I just didn't give a sh*t. Dictating everything down to where you go when you step away from your desk is just too much for me. I went from being the only one in the department to expand the team player mantra (asking for work to do, asking to learn new things, etc.) to becoming a "government worker," is how I saw it. "You buckle down on us? Fine. THESE are the confines of my job and this is all you get." It went against my grain because I can't stand to not be busy and always look for the challenge of learning new things, but that is where I had gotten.

My leaving was a total set-up; there's no doubt in my mind about that one. It's just as well since I was totally miserable there. She didn't want us to chat? Fine. I chatted with others but not her. However, THAT then became an issue, and I essentially was given the choice to quit or leave because I didn't say good morning to the crybaby!

I went up there today to pick up a package and found out they have since taken down all the cubicle walls and replaced them with half-walls now, taking away everybody's privacy. I only wish I could be there to watch it implode. :sad:

OregonDaisy, attorneys are the biggest abusers of narcotics. Most law firms don't have a drug testing policy because it would decimate the firm.

Something about working enough hours to bill 80 hours a week, forget what your children's faces look like unless you remember to keep a picture of them on your desk, have a pissed off spouse because you never have time to talk to them or help them with anything to do with the house/children, all the while being a "Master of the Universe" causes them to think a pill here, a pill there, a sniff here and sniff there, and now a shot here to bring me down, now a shot to take me up, now a shot to help me sleep...

while documenting may not "save" your job - it's great to have while negotiating your severance/mutual separation package. it also can halt the progression of the "manager in charge" future climb up the company ladder - if not result in some sort of demotion.

a good positive attitude just sticks in the craw of the ones trying to bring you down......if you can stomach it on certain days it's worthwhile,
