I’m Interested-What Kind/Brand Of Protein Is Everyone On?

Recommended Posts

I’m currently taking Max Muscle Pro Elite Protein. I drink it with Unflavored Almond Milk. It’s amazing stuff! I have 4 different flavors I drink. It’s nice to be able to switch it up! Max Muscle makes their Protein in many different flavors and they all taste pretty good for being protein. powder mixes really good too! Even mixes good with water!
So what is everyone else on. Brand? Flavor? Does it taste good or nasty?

Ymmn it does sound good, so much I see of the premade is chocolate and I'm violently allergic to that. Maybe powdered with almond milk would be a good option. Still lurking for brands then I can make an informed choice when closer.[emoji13]

I think everyone’s go too is chocolate and vanilla. Iv always had that for years and got tired of it.

Almond milk isn’t that bad...And this is coming from a guy who normally drank Vitamin D milk with my kids all the time!

I love 1st Phorm’s natural line. It’s thin, you can mix it with Water, and it’s easy to drink. I have the strawberry one. :)

Premier Protein RTD (vanilla, chocolate, bananas and cream, peaches and cream-just meh on this)

Premier Protein Clear (fruit punch)

Isopure powders (unflavored, banana cream, vanilla cream, Dutch chocolate)

Syntrax Nectar (lemon iced tea, fuzzy navel, grapefruit)

At 6 weeks out, I still have these left over. I only use about 6oz per day as coffee creamer, so I'm really only still actively using the Premier Protein RTD drinks from Sam's or costco.

It’s the best I’ve found so far! I think I’ve tried 7-8 different kinds since surgery!

Lately I mostly use Premier Protein (caramel, banana, and strawberries & cream flavors, in order of preference). I also drink Protein2O sometimes (grape, mixed berry, or tropical coconut) and occasionally buy the Isopure waters if I really need a Protein boost (they're expensive, but they're 40g of protein in 20oz of water).

I also have a tub of Syntrax Nectar Cappuccino flavor (before surgery, I liked a lot of their flavors, but this is the only one I can tolerate now because the rest are far too sweet) and a tub of Equate (AKA generic Walmart brand) chocolate, which is also too sweet. I've found the Premier isn't as cloyingly sweet, so I've been using that more than the powders, even though it works out to be more expensive.

I mix the powders with either skim (usually) or unsweetened almond milk (when I have it).

Iv drank so many different kinds of Protein Drinks over many years...Iv become so used to the typical Protein taste! It pretty much sucks! Lol

I started drinking protein when I was in the 9th grade...that was like ugh 22 years ago! So I have seriously probably tried 100’s of different kinds of protein over those years....My #1 conclusion...there is yet to be a Protein Drink that I can honestly say...”Wow, this is so good I could drink it all the time” LOL!

So I’m always looking for others and interested in what other people like.

Side Note-Some flavors of Isopure RTD Protein Juice/Water is actually pretty good. It’s just so freaking expensive!

I recently tried the powdered form of Premier Protein (chocolate flavor), and it was terrible. Oddly enough, the pre-made chocolate shake wasn’t too bad. I also like the strawberry premier Protein, but the last one I drank ended up being lumpy and stuck to the bottom of the carton. I didn’t notice until I drank the liquid sitting on top of it. I ended up getting pretty sick that night, so I’m not sure if it was related.

I can say that I like the flavor of the total lean chocolate shakes, so I am going with them until my surgery on 4/16. I also have my bariatric clinics version, which is lactose free, and I’m saving that for after surgery. The taste is a bit more tame and you only have to mix it with 4oz of Water.< br>

I’m noticing that the Premier Protein is a popular Protein for people. Is that because it’s usually a RTD? Ready To Drink

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
