Getting nervous and cold feet! Surgery is 4/27

Starting to get cold feet. I’m so ready to start a new life, but the aspect of the irreversibility (WLS VSG) and the depression people seem to fall into in the first couple of months, and the fact that food is my best friend, my consolation and I’m taking it away from myself scares me. But it scares me as well to continue the way I am and die at an early age or never live my life the way I know I can because of my weight.

If you realize life without surgery is so much worse a prospect than surgery and the tools to make your life better,more meaningful and by that -you have the chance to live healthier, fitter and thinner. I think it is time to commit yourself and move forward! Your mind is clear, your thinking is great, Proceed to surgery-- may you have a Very Soon Date[emoji14] April is coming and then the days start counting down.

I am scarred too. Since I love food and I am an emotional eater and I love sugar my doctor said that this is why I should not have the sleeve. I would need the bypass. I know either surgery is life changing but i with the sleeve you can still taste thw food especially rhe food with sugar. With the bypass no no no sugar at all

Do you think you'll be able to break up with food? Post-op, you're going to need to go back to being just friends instead of lifelong companions and a crutch.

Surgery is a tool, not a magical fix. If you're still going to be addicted to food, you might have initial success, but you'll end up where you started if you can't practice self control and direct those energies elsewhere. If you don't think you're there yet, you should postpone the surgery.

On the other hand, if you're just getting cold feet and looking for someone to validate your decision - DO IT! I was in the same boat pre-op. I was freaking out over every possibility, questioning if it was really necessary and second guessing my well researched choices. My surgery was one of the best decisions I ever made and I suspect you'll feel the way once the initial post-op gloom goes away.

Been my potion size. I simply cannot eat what I used to. Not even close. I will still have almost anything I like to eat, but the emotional eating is gone. I am satisfied with a taste. I never ever thought healthy eating was something I could enjoy but it actually is. I think you have to be in the mind set that you’re truly ready. I’m 53 this year and tired of how I looked. I was ready. Now I’m eating better, parking farther away and moving more, and the motivation is what helps. When you see the scale start to move it’s incredible! It’s my motivation. I was nervous too. But am thankful every morning when I step on the scale.

      In my area, Goodwill has all women's clothing $1.50 today. Perfect timing for winter work wardrobe! Wish me luck

      So I'm having a really really really crappy day. Crappy month really.  My husbands been off work for 2 months with an injury and I've been picking up all the slack with everything. And while, I'm happy to step up to the plate and do these things, I'm getting worn out, physically and mentally. And we went to the doctor today that just pushed his recovery time out for another 2 months.
      The reason I tell you all this......
      I bought twizzlers from the vending machine... and I've been nibbling on them.....
      So much for a lifestyle change *cry face*
      Its crazy because I haven't thought about food as comfort in a very long time. But today, I broke.

        There are still 2 Twizzlers left sitting in the wrapper... they aren't gone yet. But today the cleaning people come at work, so they will be soon! I think I'll get some satisfaction to have something left to throw away.
