Protein Shakes are too sweet. I loved them the first week and hate them now. I bought GENEPRO and can mix it in anything, however after researching online, it says there was a lawsuit in which they lost because of their false labeling of calories and Protein amount.

Does anyone else use this? The info I found wasn’t from credible sources, so I don’t want to not use it.

Has anyone used this and see their protein levels tank??

GENEPRO is just expensive and a bit shady.

I'm not quite sure how they can claim their Protein Shake contains 30g of Protein yet is only 56 calories, when one gram of protein is 4 calories. Clearly they're either lying or misleading their customers

I don't think anybody is going to have the perfect answer for you, but I know there's definitely going to be better value stuff out there that doesn't have question marks surrounding it

I love my genepro...assuming the claims are correct, which may not be clear. Basically, they claim that the Protein they process is more easily absorbed than standard whey protein. Therefore 1 scoop is "equivalent" to 30g of whey protein as far as you body is concerned. I opened up the package and saw the small scoop and was like "There is no way that is 30g!". I really like the product and it seems to be working for me and my wife. I'm going to see my NUT this week so I may ask about their opinion.

I use GENEPRO and have been using it for awhile (like 3 years or so) I have no problems with my Protein levels and as you see I am almost 5 years out. If I didn't use my protein stuff I would never reach my 65 or so protein level. My blood work has all been great. For myself it works and I will continue using it. Love my GENEPRO Latte every day. I guess everyone has to do what ever it takes as long as they meet their quota of protein levels. Good Luck and there is quite the conversations on this product. It is a WIN WIN for me.

I just sat started using this product and it seems to be working great. I know there are questions but where does the accurate answer come from? I would think if they lost this lawsuit that the products would not be sold on this website. If it works, I’m using it.

Well their claim is a bit outlandish and clearly falls in the "too good to be true" category. I would imagine that no food has 100% full absorption / 100% bio-availability, so when they make outlandish claims the burden of responsibility to support those claims falls on them. Here is their "study" supporting their claims

http://www.musclegen.net/documents/geneproClinicalTrial.pdf

(note its a small short term, small sample size, poorly controlled clinical train paid for by them).

Personally I think their claims are 100% bs and wildly exaggerated. That said I dont think the product is bad for you, it is very much a Protein supplement.

That said its very likely that youre really only getting somewhere in the 11-15g range of protein per serving and absolutely not 30g.

The TLDR: is basically GENEPRO is very likely giving you substantially less than 30g of ACTUAL protein per serving, which makes it overpriced and difficult to accurately track your macros. But if you dont mind overpaying for an easy to dissolve flavorless protein its probably just as fine as any other Protein Powder as a protein source. Youll just have to make an educated guess on how much protein youre consuming, and probably double their dosages to get that actual amount

CarrieB when I ask the same thing about this site selling it I got the same run around was told it is the $$ thing!! I also think that people are actually guessing on the other products about how much protien they are actually getting. So as I stated it is a win win for me and my coffee Latte's. If it was as bad as everyone says the FDA has sure been notifed and they would not allow them to sell this stating it has 30 grams of Protein. BTW every other protein I tried did NOT dissolve or had a nasty taste to it. This is by far the best one I have found and just to clear up this I have tried so many different Proteins in the last 5 years I would hate to add up the $$ I have spent on them. I say if it works then use it. Keep up on your blood work and if something isn't right then take a look at what you are doing. Good luck. BTW I knew this was going to happen, it has been brought up before. I will use GENEPRO until my Surgeon tells me different!!

Im almost certain the reason they're allowed to label it 30g of protein is because it has two asterisks next to it, stating **equivalencies based on the clinical trial (which i linked above). Even GENEPRO doesnt claim it has 30g of protein, because it absolutely doesnt. It literally states equivalency based upon THEIR clinical trial (that they paid for).

Im surprised more nutrition companies haven't employed this tactic

Its really not a huge deal though, and likely would make little to no difference unless youre getting the majority/almost all of your protein from Genepro. But if youre taking 1 serving of the stuff a day, its a moot point imo

Just FYI everyone, a blood test cannot show that you are getting enough Protein. Serum (blood) Protein levels have nothing to do with adequate intake. Both low and high levels of serum protein are due to disease processes and other medical issues like inflammation or organ failures. Only very severe malnutrition would have an impact on serum protein.

https://labtestsonline.org/tests/total-protein-and-albuminglobulin-ag-ratio

Low protein intake results in muscle loss. That can’t be detected by a blood test.

Just something to note. No blood test can tell if you are getting adequate PROTEIN. They are to detect whether you are getting enough Vitamins, minerals, etc.

Interesting. But...my Dr has a list of blood work he need to see. I'm not sure if it is a standard list or not. I will post mine to see if every Dr's is the same or not. Here it is, I am curious to see the compared results.

Hemogram, CMP, Vit D (25Hydroy) ThiaminB1 (whole) Ferritin Level Pt H, Folate Are these pretty standard. Please post so I can compare them

As @jess9395 stated, there is no blood test that will determine if you are getting adequate Protein.

Hemogram - blood count

CMP - Comprohensive Metaolic panel glucose level, electrolyte and Fluid balance, kidney function, and liver function

Vitamin D, B1, Ferratin, Pth, Folate -vitamin/mineral

As far as GENEPRO, IMO, if this was legit they wouldn't be stating such clear falsehoods. You can't get 30 g of protein in a 15 g mass. Protein has 4 calories per gram, so why are the calories on Genepro so much lower? Finally the process they tout where they break protein molecules into smaller sizes and among other thing they remove some of the hydrogen ions, how is this even protein anymore, it is so highly manipulated?

Those are pretty standard for the first year post op yes. And there is NO blood test that can show if you are getting enough Protein.

My PCP just adds the extra tests then faxes them to my Bariatric Dr. I guess I better look back in my game plan. I have my Blood work per my PCP. To keep an eye on my Blood Sugars She has to have it done every 6 month which is a REAL Pain in my B***. I'm off to get my notebook checking it out. Have a great day

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
