Psych Evaluation

I was wondering... What do they ask you on the psych evaluation and what makes you fail it?

I am not scheduled for one yet, just curious?

I've done one before and they ask like 300 questions some more than once and it's to make sure you are serious also there is the eval where they get a general idea of you as a person just be honest and as far as failing I mean being suicidal might be a big red flag other than that not sure I see a psych doc regularly and she is fully supportive so it's easy to pass

They want to see if you have addictions and compulsions that need to be addressed because surgery is just a tool. You will gain the weight back if you can’t control yourself. I don’t think they “fail” you but will want to work with you (the psychologist). Also, some people trade an addiction to eating to another thing, like shipping, drinking, smoking, etc.

Oh i see. So basically they are getting to the core of why i gained all of this extra weight?

In mine we also talked about expectations for post-surgery life; family and friend support (or lack thereof), how I would cope with the required changes for the long term-what would be different this time; are my expectations for WL realistic, did I have an adequate understanding of the surgery, requirements, outcomes, etc.
