Any March 2018 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Sleeved on 3/28 and doing pretty well. Today is my first days on pureed diet and I had a very soft scrambled egg this morning and it was great. Based on a sleeve group attendee I tried GENEPRO Protein and it is tasteless just as he indicated. It's great to have this protein that I can mix with other stuff without adding a vanilla flavoring.

I am finding my tastes on some things have changed, The Premier Protein Water that had been my go to during liquid stage became unpalatable for me. Way to sweet and left a metallic type taste and even felt like a coating in my mouth. One day without it and thats all gone.

Also I can no longer handle the chewable Calcium tabs and Multivitamin chewable that I was planning to use. They just taste way too sweet. But I'll find others.

I was sleeved on 3/27/18 and I’m still on liquid diet until Friday 4/13/18 when I will see my surgeon and they will decide if I’m ready for next stage. I’m down 23 lbs, I’m dizzy because not getting enough to eat. So it’s been hard trying to get out there and walk around a lot.

Wow that seems like a long time to be on a liquid diet. I do hope you get cleared for the next stage. Stay positive and remember why you had the surgery. [emoji2]

I'm doing pretty good. I'm on soft foods now. It does take effort to get my Protein and fluids but I'm getting the hang of it. I've lost about 14lbs since surgery, 27lbs total (from my highest weight which was a month pre-op) I was hoping to lose more but when I calculate it, I've lost almost 3lbs a week on average so who can complain about that... How about you?

I’m good. I have same issues with Protein and fluids. I just found a Protein Powder that actually tastes good! I get it online from Vitamin world it’s called whey protein isolate precision engineered. I get vanilla it tastes just like a milkshake and it’s not gritty and nasty. I’ve lost 31 pounds since day of surgery. I never really hit the purée stage just ate super soft things like cottage and ricotta cheese. I was just cleared for light work outs.

I just treated myself to 10g of Scharfenburger Bitterweet chocolate (70%) after dinner -- 28 kcal. It was soooo satisfying!! I highly recommend a good quality, 70% chocolate as an occasional treat if you are a chocoholic like me!

Is that allowed by your doctor...I would be petrified to try something like that!

Curious, why would you be petrified?

Because it is not on my list of pureed foods, because my anastomis is still fresh, scared of a leak, irritating to stomach ling......having had GERD before , chocolate was a food to avoid...just my opinion

Maybe because she's afraid she wouldn't be able to stop, eating and down the slippery slope she would slide. And it would be twice as hard to get back to where she's at now.

Not at all for that reason....at least at this point. I have no desire for sweets, or any of my old favorite foods....sleeved 3/27

It was chocolate-- it just melted in my mouth :-)

How far out are you at this point? At 4 weeks, my tummy seems invincible!! NOTHING bothers me (except beans).

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
