Fluffy, I started tracking my weekly weight to spot trends when you mentioned it -- great idea. Not sure if I have a trend yet:

You know, I think it's technically probably too early to spot the trends for us. I think maybe why mine "appears" to be somewhat apparent is that I do get into a lazy rut with food. I pretty much eat the same 3-4 things for Breakfast and lunch every day--week in and week out. LOL. And 98% of our dinners are a grilled or pan-seared Protein and a veg then avo-tom salad. LOL.

Don't laugh y'all. I made the "big haul" at Big Lots today. :) I found a Hamilton Beach smoothie maker for $15.00. (Damn you Drs. Weiner and Vuong! Damn you both. LOL. Because of you I'm STILL jacking with making green smoothies, trying to lose weight despite the increase in "healthy" carbs, thinking that I can UP my nutrition by blending the crap outta my greens and a few berries and twigs. So I'm still trying to find a blender that will pulverize better than my big Ninja which just shoots me the bird every time I try to use it.)

I also found tuna Pouches for $1.00 (and no they aren't expired). I also found sardines in Water for $1.00 and can's of smoked oysters (thanks Mama...) for $1.25. So I have cheap lunch lined up from here to tomorrow! LOL.

Now. Today was Day2 of Big Ass salad. Can I just tell you I'm a little obsessed with cucumber for some reason? Today was another Greek salad and instead of shrimp, I opened a pouch of lemon pepper tuna. It was just "okay." Can I tell you it sounds much better in theory? Cuz come on. Pouch tuna IS more convenient. But in the end, it's still tuna that lives in a pouch. I love real tuna-raw or cooked. But I'm not so crazy about pouch tuna. I ate all of it though. I'm pleasantly full...worried I could eat so much, but some say you can eat more salad than other things. And my doc says canned tuna and chicken aren't as dense as fresh cooked or frozen "solid" Proteins. So I'm comforting myself with that one.

Also, I added 10g of shelled roasted unsalted sunflower seeds. Damn, way to jack up the calories on a salad! Hope they had some deep nutrition. LOL. I nearly gasped at the nutrition. I don't often have a meal that goes over 200 cals!

Nutrition: (same ingredients as yesterday's listed salad, but with tuna rather than shrimp) 210cals; 23g protein; 9g fat; 9g carbs; 1g fiber; 9g net carbs; 2g nat. sugars.

FluffyChix, you inspire me! I'm only 7 days out from a mini-bypass but my favorite foods are salads, veggies and meat. Your recipes and journey give me hope that at some point I will be able to eat these things again! Thank you!

Ok guys. Just a brief fly-by then off to an arts & crafts fair!

We had a great time at the ballpark yesterday. Our team one and is in first place in the league! Woot!! 7-0 games won. Wore shorts. Was great! :)

Now this morning used my new Hamilton Beach "personal blender" to make a green smoothie. $14.99 at Big Lots! Yippee!!! It made the smoothest, most non-gritty fully blended smoothie I've ever made at home! And I'm trying out doing 3g of psyllium husks in it. If this goes down and sits well without marching through me like Sherman through Georgia, I'll go up to 6g of psyllium husks. May be dicey, but I have GOT to up my Fiber. I am used to having 10-12g of psyllium husks daily pre-surg. So hopefully my gut still remembers that volume! :D

Here's the green smoothie recipe. Sorry no piccys.

GREEN SMOOTHIE

Serves 1: IDK. A big ass glass full. Will have to measure my glass volume later, but it's maybe 16oz? (Ok measured: 400ml; 1 3/4cup; about 14oz. :D )

44g frozen blueberries (about 1 1/2oz)

2oz frozen chopped spinach

25g Isopure Bananas and Cream Protein Powder

4g vitacost Peanut Butter powder (Peanut Butter Slim=PB2 you get in the grocery)

3g NOW! whole psyllium husks (optional but it keeps me full longer)

6floz Silk Cashew Milk (can use So Delicious Coconut Milk, almond milk, or FF Fairlife or FF Mootopia)

4floz cold Water

ice cubes (optional)

Nutrition w/o psyllium husks: 168cals; 25g protein; 2g fat; 10g carbs; 3g fiber; 7g net carbs; 6g nat sugars

Nutrition w/psyllium husks: 179cals; 25g protein; 2g fat; 12g carbs; 5g fiber; 7g net carbs; 6g nat sugars

Have a great day!!!

My weekend check-in Fluff - glad to see you're still doing great! Hubby has lost 2 waist sizes since I've had surgery and his carbs went waaaay down (he's pretty good about eating what I feed him. We're neck and neck right now, trying to pass each other in weight. Can't remember the last time I weighed the same as my husband!

Greek salad sounds excellent. Today is all taco/fajita all day for us (Happy Cinco de Mayo!) but I'll be grocery shopping tomorrow....

Holy cow! That's awesome!!!! On both counts--hubs losing 2 waist sizes and YOU being right close to each other. Doesn't it make you fee fantastic? I swear that was a SV that was so dear to me. Can't wait for you to report that you've passed him by and are wearing his jeans now! :) Then that his jeans are too big for you! :D

Sooooo craving tacos!!!! And we're making fajitas tomorrow. I was so pooped when we got in that we just had turkey roll-ups and raw veggies for dins. Then I needed a little more Protein, so had my decaff sf peppermint protein mocha. Tonight is lc fish and shrimp tacos. Tomorrow is beef and fajitas chicken. And Tuesday is chicken, mushroom, peapod stir fry. LOL. Then no cooking for the rest of the week cuz we will have a metric crap ton of leftovers and I'm good to fly 'til next Saturday! hahaha.

Happy belated Cinco de Mayo!!!

Sadly the arts & crafts fair was cancelled and we never found Mai Fest. But we explored Brenham (cute cute town on the way to College Station), and stopped at a some Texas wineries. I drank my iced tea and Mr. F. gacked over bad wine. But the views were great, the breeze was awesome, and the sunshine magnificent. We had great conversation and met some lovely peeps along the way. So it was a great day for a drive and an adventure.

And we're about to go walking on the nature preserve this morning. Sunday brunch with bacon! Then back home to lots of chores.

Gacking over bad local wine made me LOL -- I feel the same way about one local winery we go to now and then for events. Great events, beautiful place, bad wine, ha!

Bahahahaha! He was a trooper, for sure! Texas wines are something of an oxymoron! LOL. I asked him if he thought they grew the grapes for photo ops only! LOL, cuz most get either grapes or concentrate from California. And you gotta think the vintners in CA aren't stupid. Just like in Italy, they keep the "good stuff" in country! LOL.

I kid you not, at one place, I smelled each glass and they all made my nose burn!!! I'm like dayum...can you say not fully fermented alcohol and acetone?? *snort*

But yes, the atmostphere is soooo lovely and relaxing! :) Glad to hear you have that too. Cuz you know, mizreh loves company! :D Hey, how's the charting going? Is that thing which won't be mentioned going down still? ((hugs))

I haven't ventured to CO wine country yet. It's on the other side of the mountains, cuz on the eastern side, nothing grows but prairie grass! I did break the taco trend last night by getting bison/prickly pear cactus chili. It was tasty! Hubby tried the 'devilled egg tacos' which were, as I expected, weird and unsatisfying. I did do a bariatric no-no though. I ordered a drink with dinner - drank some beforehand but did sip some in between bites of chili. I'd had over 60g Protein earlier in the day so didn't feel too bad. First alcohol since sleeve! It was a cider made with CO peaches (which are awesome - from the other side of the mtns of course) and 'high-altitude' apples. Not sure we have any other kind in this state! I didn't finish the pint as tiny tum was full, but it was tasty and didn't immediately make me fall off my bar stool. I think 2 would've done it though!

Re those jeans - I haven't tried his jeans yet, but a couple years ago we got quick dry pants for kayaking. I had xxl and he had xl. I tried on the xl yesterday and they fit! So in a way, I'm now wearing his pants :)

And now, talking about wine tasting, I want some good salumi and cheese for dinner.... I can live without the baguette and sweet butter, but damn..

I love wine <3. In fairness, I don't drink often, and its uncommon for me to have more than a glass in one sitting but my doc says no booze for 1 year. I'm going to miss a nice glass of white wine in the summer :(

Yes, I tasted a couple of sips of a Michelada. BIG mistake. Not anxious to repeat alcohol any time soon--including my beloved wine. :) Honestly, I thought I'd miss it. But I do not. I'm much happier with tea. And plus, any time pre-surg that I had alcohol of any kind, I stalled for 4 days. I could count it on the calendar. And I'd usually go up a couple pounds about 2 days after drinking. It SUCKED!

I'm not even tempted at this point. Just the sip I have at communion still burns. A whole glass would probably eat a hole in my stomach! This is such a new experience for me, I always had the famous cast-iron stomach! Now it's made of tissue paper!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
