February bypass buddies?

Oh no! I missed weigh ins. (Big breath....sign...... hand on forehead lol) here we go:

HW: 298lbs
SW: 262lbs
CW:241.8lbs (finally lost a few pounds.... but i started measuring myself and turns out I am losing inches)

I also determined my bowels aren’t moving as well so that’s added weight I could for sure lose lol. Keeping motivated.

Hey great.... I had mine 2/7/18 so we are rather close. My progress, I feel, I feel has been slow, but I am doing over all good getting back to my work routine and life routine. I have good and bad days. My good days consist of getting everything in. My bad days are when I don’t and when I have trouble swallowing. It is like my throat narrows out. I have more good days than bad so for that I am very thankful. What has your month been like? STATS? Wishing you well and congrats!

FYI peeps, I made stir fry with Shirataki noodles. I didn’t eat the noodles but the stir fry chicken and carrots was good all 2 oz of it haha. It was low sodium and practically no carb meal.

Nice to hear from you! looks delicious!

My progress has also been really slow compared to others who've had this surgery- But I am patient.. I had 110 pounds to lose! I am 5"1 inches.. with BMI of 42. So far I have lost 22 pounds of which 13 pounds has been after

my surgery. I lose about 2 pounds per week. I am happy with it. I feel really good to be honest i guess i am lucky- i havent had any issues. Still settling into the new diet. Let me know how you have been doing since surgery.

Ok Feb buddies I need advice. Yesterday I was 3wks post-op. I've been doing great and haven't hurt at all for over a week. But yesterday I suddenly started having pain at the site of my largest incesion. I thought it would go away but I hardly slept last night because it hurt. Has anyone else went from zero pain back to hurting again? Is this normal?

Ok, so it's probably nothing. But here's what I would do in an assessment:

1. Take my temperature. If it's over 100.4 degrees>>>call the doc/If it's normal, then I'd just watch the pain level and take things easy today and eat lightly. If it's 99-100, watch it and drink plenty of fluids, take it easy, eat lightly, rest.

2. Look at the wound. Is it red, *****? Is stuff coming out of it? Does it appear swollen? Does it hurt to touch it? Does it feel hotter to the touch than surrounding flesh? If any of this stuff>>>call the doc. If not, just watch it and have an easy day.

The reality is that maybe you just walked more or slept wrong, or leaned against the counter, or picked something up. I did dishes and leaned against the counter yesterday and my left incision hurts at my waist. Also the pair of panties I had on yesterday stopped there.

Thanks!! The wound looks fine, just warm to the touch. And I may have over done it a little. Trying to get back into my usual routine. Thanks for your help [emoji4]

Maybe put some antibiotic ointment on it today and watch it? IF it starts feeling warmer or gets red around it, call the doc and don't wait. OK?

That looks beautiful. I can't wait to have my beloved shirataki noodles again! I heart them so! What brand did you use?

I had my surgery on February 28th! So I'm just a little over 2 weeks post op. Still having some discomfort, mainly on the left side of my stomach and near my rib cage. Very excited that I can finally eat regular foods and am doing pretty well, just have to keep focusing on getting my fluids in. I know I need to get in a minimum of 60g of Protein a day, but does anyone have guidelines regarding other nutrition? I was curious about sugar, Fiber and carbs for the day.

How is everyone else doing so far?

Okay guys, amost 1 month post op. And for about a week ive been stuck at 215lbs. 1 week ago i started pureed diet tolerating foods and now im not loosing anything which is really discouaging me ( maybe discourages the wrong word but upsetting would be a good word) starting yo feel gulity putting anything in my mouth like i shoulf remain on liqueds. Carbs are low, sugar free averaging about 500-600calories a day. Portine could be better but im averaging 30-40g a day.

I cant have done all this to only loose 42lbs.

First of all, don't ever say "only to lose 42 lbs."!! That's a LOT of weight. Go to the grocery store and try to hold 8 bags of potatoes (5# bags). You'll realize that is a LOT of weight. I've done it with 15 pounds. Be proud of how far you've come!!! Second, don't be afraid of food. I know that's easier said than done, it's part of the psychological programming we all have to learn to reprogram. You need food in order to lose weight. Food gives your body the energy to burn calories. And yes, EAT THE PROTEIN! Make sure you get your minimum of 60 grams. If you have to, use the Protein Shakes to get it. The Protein helps your weight loss also.

Try not to get discouraged. Keep moving forward with your stages of eating. I'm only 2 weeks post-op and I'm already eating regular foods. But I can tolerate it. I'm not sure how your tolerance level is. For right now, don't be concerned with calories. Just get in your protein while keeping the fat and sugar low. And if you are able to, get moving. Just walking will help you. Remember, this is a journey. It will not happen overnight. At your next meeting with your nutritionist, let him/her know what's going on. I'm sure you can get suggestions and help. Keep up the great work! I'm only down 15 lbs right now, so be proud of your 42 lost!!!!

Thank you for that, youre right 42lb is an achomplishment but im discuraged becuase most of it was on the liqued diet preop.

Im marching forward but god this is mentally exhausting

Hey peeps.. you guys are doing great!

Also - it is common for your weight to stand still going from liquids to solids.. everything needs to settle in.. once you hit your Protein goals and increase your calories to above 800.. your weightloss will kick back in .. if you eat too less.. your body will retain fat as it thinks its starving.. if you keep to your dr's diet.. and the allowed amounts of portions.. you will get past the stall and back into losing.. sometimes it can take up to 3 weeks for your body to adapt.. and then suddenly the pounds starts dropping.. dont lose the faith.. and try not be so hard on yourself.. you have done great.. and every pound lost- COUNTS.. even if it was lost before the op!

((hugs)) You could be me...I'm 4 weeks tomorrow and for the past week I've actually gained a little over a pound. I'd only lost 12lbs since surgery. Now I'm at 10.8lbs loss. The scale is up and down in the cursed 3 week stall that can hit any time from 2-4 weeks.

I am averaging 400-500 cals/day, about 60g of Protein, less than 20g of fat and less than 20g of whole carbs per day and less than 10g of sugar per day. I actually can NOT figure out how our bodies can hang onto the weight with that kind of deficit. I walk every day for a minimum of 30 minutes (3/4 mile).

I seiously got up this morning and just wanted to sob like a baby.

      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

        Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

        Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

        I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

        I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

        BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
