Hi,

I'm 4 months post op and I'm dreading Hair loss.

I haven't noticed any yet - although I have really thick short hair so maybe I'm just not noticing it???

hair loss is completely normal! It's due to the sudden weight loss. Take 10,000 mcg of Biotin. I used BariMelts brand. Tastes good and doesn't take up as much room as a pill you have to swallow whole. It will probably continue for a couple of months but you will not go bald even though you may feel you will - I know I was sure I would go bald with the handful of hair that would fall out.

I used headbands and ponytails instead of barrettes since those would just slip off my hair.< /p>

This to shall pass - and is so very worth all the weight you are going to continue to lose. Hang in there!!

I'm about 4 months out from surgery and I'm losing a lot of hair. A lot. Like, brushing my hair is a horrible, horrible experience. There are bits of hair all over the house. My bathroom looks a crime scene where Chewbacca was violently sheared.

I've seen posts here where people talk about how they were able to avoid Hair loss by taking Biotin or whatever but I'm not that lucky. I take my Multivitamin, I try and have lots of Protein and drink lots of Water. But my hair still falls out! It's so awful. I know that there's a bigger picture here - I'm losing weight and getting healthy but it's still upsetting.

At my heaviest weight, I had thick wavy hair that I could get shiny with the right styling tools. Now, it feels like I'm practically bald. I think my hair loss is definitely noticeable to others - at least people who knew what my hair looked like before. If I had to guess, I've lost at least 30-40% of the hairs on my head. I have this stupid skinny pony tail now. I'm not at the point of getting hair extensions but I've been googling hair thickening shampoos. I also won't be straightening my hair anytime soon. I think a curlier texture makes it look a little thicker. I know I should just focus on getting healthy and reminding myself that it will eventually grow back. This hair loss thing is difficult and miserable.

I also lost hair at about four months out. I solved the problem by getting a pixie cut.[emoji5], but I like short hair. For me it grew back as thick as it was before.

I'm glad to hear it grew back thick as before. I'm not looking forward to the growing in phase. I'm expecting to have spiky bits going in all directions. I'm a long hair girl but I guess I might have to get a shorter cut.

It will grow back! And biotin takes about 3 months before it starts to work. But also I am only 7 weeks out. Hopefully I don't freak out too when my hair falls out.

Hey sunshinetinks! You're right it will grow back. I don't mean to alarm anyone who has only recently had the surgery. I think I'm probably in the minority - most people don't seem to lose that much hair. I'm sure freaking out is only making this worse. I need to be more zen about the Hair loss.

I cut my hair short, but was also freaking out as its everywhere, I've also been told its temporary and our bodies are trying to get back to a normality of some type, I've had it described to me that its the new hair pushing out the old, I'm not bald but even my hairdresser said its very thin and worse on the right-hand side,I keep reminding myself its temporary and will pass

I have very thinning hair in the front of my scalp so this makes me sooo nervous! It's female pattern baldness which sucks. Just looks very thin now but am petrified it could get worse. Am seriously thinking about using rogaine on that portion only once I get post surgery. Going to chat with my doc about it.

I was one of the lucky one s that didn't loose a great deal. I noticed it but I don't think anyone else did. It will grow back to it's beautiful state. Just think of what you are gaining. It's only temporary.

I had a lot of Hair loss. You can safely use 20,000 mg of Biotin a day. It has helped me a lot. At my worst I washed my hair with Nioxin and used minoxidil on my scalp. I got a shorter cut about 2 months ago and things are growing back nicely.

I posted almost the same thing on another thread.
I did a lot if research on this very subject. My hair was already thinning and it scared me. I have noticed that they recommend at least 70g of Protein a day. Biotin 10,000 and make sure you are getting your b Vitamins. I was sleeved 10/17 and it hasnt been an issue yet. Ya never know though, that may change

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
