Late December Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

2 weeks is way too early for rice, even well-chewed. The BRAT (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) diet they normally recommend when you can’t keep anything down doesn’t apply for now.

Yes, mine was:
Days 1 and 2 (day 1 was surgery day) - clear liquids
Days 3-14 - full liquids
Days 15 and 16 - pureed foods
Days 17-28 - very soft foods
Days 29-42 - soft foods
Days 43+ - general diet
I'm considering starting soft foods this weekend (should start on Wednesday the 17th) bc I've tolerated else I've tried and I'm starving eating only very soft foods.

I had my surgery on 12/20 Clear Liquids the first 14 days and than full liquids for 28 days...she said next appt 1/31 she will see about adding pureed.
I tried 2 oz of tuna 21 days out and had no issues but she was not happy.

I have no energy and getting frustrated.

I have a question.... 3 1/2 weeks out and today I started feeling lightheaded and felt like a icy hot cool feeling in my arms brurry vision a little and I’m drinking 70 ounces a Water a day... could this be dehydration still? Or something else? I’m nervous. What else could this be? How could I still be dehydrated if I drink this amount?

Tonight I steamed some baby bok choy and carrots and puréed them in the Magic Bullet. I also added a little seasoned salt for flavoring, and it was so good! I have never missed veggies so much in my life. I also had a half a cup of pureed pinto Beans with some shredded string cheese stirred in. The consistency was a little weird, but it tasted good.

Mine was Dec 21, 2017. Is anyone else having troubles keeping solids and liquids down at this stage? I feel a little embarrassed to put this out there but we are all adults that are going to experience this so here goes, I am also constipated. Could this be a reason I can't keep anything down? I really haven't passed much since I've started solids.

I’m just scared I won’t be able to keep anything down and will be nauseated all the time. And getting dehydrated scares me too. I have anxiety as it is so I worry anyway.

I can't keep anything down and I'm 4-5 weeks out at the moment and Ive already been hospitalized for dehydration....it really sucks. Make sure you try to get as many fluids as possible down.

You should probably get checked out. I can't see it being dehydration. But if you release it as fat as you're taking it in, I guess it could be a possibility.

I’m almost 3 weeks and stay nauseous. I have a very hard time keep stuff down. Usually I can keep down 4oz Protein Shake, 2 oz Soup, then 2oz soup and that’s it for an entire day. Usually I might be able to get about 24oz if Water a day and that’s pushing it. Oh and I also tAke At least 1 zofran a day, usually 2.idk what’s going on with me, but I hope it gets better on. It’s pretty miserable.

I have realized my situation. Was still dehydrated even tho taking in 48-60 oz of Fluid because I wasn’t eating much and then I am lacking serious minerals in my body

I was also horribly constipated. I took Dulcolax mild OTC and it helped me SO much! I only had to take it once. My doctor said Constipation is normal with everything our systems are dealing with on top of anesthesia.

I have found myself nauseous as well. The doctor told me at my 2 week appointment not to worry about food and focus on my liquids. I found a low calorie Protein Drink that I found my system likes. Its called Protein20. I think dairy is what many of people have a difficult time with. I know I did.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
