Couch to 5K - Week of 21 ? 27 October

Hi everyone,

this is our second week in the Couch to 5K program. This is designed to be a 9 week program, but you can repeat weeks (as I will be doing) until you are comfortable moving on. However, you are not supposed to skip weeks.

It has been strongly suggested by trainers and runners alike to NOT run on consecutive days.

More information can be found here: Cool Running :: The Couch-to-5K Running Plan

Attached are the first and second weeks in detail

Anyone is free to join, no matter where we are!! ;)

This is the place to check in and support with each other and see how it is going.

What week are you doing?

How is it going for you? Is it too difficult / too easy?

Any comments??

Good luck everyone!

I thought you already did!

o yeah...i forgot....MOVE IT.....hey someone around here has got to be the C25K Nazi.

I have no idea how you keep an eye on the time your meant to run and walk of your not doing it on a treadmill and not on a podcast....do you just have to keep constantly looking at your watch?

If i saw someone doing that in the street id think there late for a bus..

Did my week 1 yesterday outside in the nippy weather. It felt great! I was ready for more! That's a big improvement for me! But I have a question about running. Is it better to run longer or faster? I can go longer but it's not very fast. Jeanie

hi Jeanie,

speed for now should not be an issue. in fact i was gently 'chastized' by a runner on the board for trying to go too fast. (it was a nice chastized ... not a bad thing at all, it motivated me even more actually).... i was trying for 5.0-5.2 MPH... they both suggested i slow it down, then slow it down again.

it is length you run to condition your body to run. i will try to find Jachut's link. she and JulieNYC have been enormous running inspirations for me.

Search - Advanced search and on the right hand side type in their user name.

you can also go to the exercise board and open anything pertaining to running, etc... they are pretty active on that section.

Glad I found this post. I have just started going to the Gym again and I think i am gonna give this a try. I will give week one a try starting tonight. I really need someone to report to and to keep me going and encouge me and I know everyone here will do that. I was banded in june and am down 37 lbs without much exercise it is time I get moving on a regular basis.

Good job Tyanna!!! JM and Losing will both tell you i am great for being someone you can report to! I have nice 'gentle' approach to motivation for them.

Its a great program! YOu GO girl!!!! You will love it. Dont be afraid of it...we are all in this together..

I cant wait for tomorrows workout now. How WEIRD is that!

Completely weird, I'm dreading it. The back of my legs are KILLING me. I'm so sore. And when I woke up this morning my heal spur was really bothering me, but when I'm running it doesn't act up. That's weird.

Dreading it? You better get to it or gonna have to tell you off again. Sorry bout the spur on your heel...youch! maybe you could pretend your a cowboy...im mean cowgirl.....oh whatever....im drinking this mornings coffee im so tired
