It's so exciting! I don't know why I don't have a liquid preop diet. It's all veg and Protein. I start that on the 30th December I think. Aargh!

I am going to try a two week trial run starting some time this week.

Hi folks! Yes it is super exciting!! I do feel quite nervous too!! That's great news RunningLibrarian! Not too long to wait! I was wondering, what's going on with my pre-op diet. There's a lot of people on here with liquid diets etc but mine's not like that at all..... maybe it's a UK thing? Also, how long have you booked off work Bboopshell? I've only booked one week's leave but starting to think I should take more....

I only took one week off. But my boss told me if I need two weeks just let her know.

I am going to try a two week trial run starting some time this week.

I’ve been doing this as well. I started replacing Breakfast and lunch with a Protein Shake. So when it comes time for the preop diet, it will be a lot easier. I will say, I’m hungry but it as bad as I thought.

I am about to do the same. Waiting for my Protein Shakes to deliver!

I need to start to practice not drinking Water 30 min before a meal, during or 30 min after. I never realized how much I drink while eating until I started focusing on it. Lots of changes coming!

I leave my drink in the kitchen that way it isn't even near me. And I have to get up to get it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
