Day 4 was better for me with the weakness, headaches, and sickness, but the hunger has not subsided. I have 4 days until my surgery, too. I can't have another sip of broth to save my life, but I'm drinking my shakes and Water faithfully. Best wishes.

I'm not turning back now. I went through too much the past 9 days to quit. LOL

I had a revelation about this liquid diet. Clearly, I was addicted to the wrong foods which is why I went through the horrible withdrawals and all the other side effects. I feel bad for drug addicts because their withdrawals last much longer and I don't know of a surgery that will help keep them from going back to their addiction. We are blessed to have this opportunity.

The best news...my insurance will pay 100% of the surgery since I met my deductible. That's like going shopping and getting everything 90% off (10% goes to my new grocery list).

Great point! Its weird, I don't wake up hungry. Today is Day 3 of my liquid diet and Day 3 of no cigarettes. Today is better than the first two days! My one big issue is shaking. So I have had 1 Tbsp. of shredded roast chicken breast. That stops the shaking. I cant do that on Days 8, 9 & 10 though. This is VERY hard, I could never have imagined the level of difficulty.

Day 10 for me of my 2wks liquid diet, not including the day before surgery of just Clear Liquids. I really haven't had much hunger, but I've put a lot of effort into making my shakes interesting. I'll add fruit, no sugar flavor syrups, flavor extracts, etc and try different recipes. For Breakfast today, I'm having a pumpkin pie flavored Protein Shake (pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, vanilla extract, little bit of skim milk and Water, and Protein powder). Throw it all in the blender for a min with about a cup of ice and voila - a nice frothy (and big) protein shake that takes me awhile to drink. Your body will get used to it!

I don't know how you quit smoking at the same time. Really struggling on Optifast. I am only allowed Water, 1 cup of broth a day, and one sugar fee jello..not allowed anything else. I still have to cook and feed my special needs child and I work in a group home ,where I cook and serve meals for clients. This is really kicking my butt![emoji51] I am on day 5, have 9 days left. Almost wish they could have hospitalized me for the pre-op!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
