Pounds or percentages?

Do you think of your weightloss in terms of the number of pounds you've lost, or the percentage of your excess weight that you've lost? As of yesterday, I've lost 20 pounds, which is also 20% of my excess weight. For some reason, though, I prefer to think of my loss in terms of percentage.

I think it is because I can get a realistic idea of how far I've come and how far I have to go.

I tend to think of it in pounds because that's the "in your face" way the scale reads it. But - when I stop and take the time to think of it in terms of percentage, or measurements, it has a lot more impact.

I've lost about 165 lbs, give or take. Yeah, that's a lot. But it doesn't have that *oomph* to it.

I've lost more than 75% of my excess weight. I've lost something like 6 or 7 feet off of my measurements. That has a little more *oomph*!

Wheetsin........you and I have stayed at just about the same all thru this journey. We had surgery at the same date and have lost about the same amount. Proud of you and proud of me and everybody else who is giving it their all:clap2:

wow-when i look at the % it is so much more appealing- I am at 30%-only been banded 6 weeks-they say to expect 60-70% the first year-so that is not too bad either- I have been at a stalemate in weight loss the last couple of weeks-but i am down 3 sizes-so really I think looking at all three are equally important-if one is not showing you the results-I am sure one of the others will-also taking measurements helps as well.

That's a good point. Whatever motivates someone the best, I say!
