August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 8/23. It has been a whole month and I have only lost 25 pounds. I'm a big girl I should have lost more. I'm not eating nearly what I was eating before but staying under 900 calories a day. What is wrong with me? Why am I not losing? I feel like this was all a mistake and I'm going to just stay fat forever. The scale hasn't moved in about 2 weeks and my heart is broken.

I’m exactly the same as you. Sleeved same day and I’m down almost 27 lbs. some days I lose a lb a day and some I totally stall for days at a time. My NUT said under 900 is acceptable and 1100ish when I add crossfit tomorrow.

I also feel like a failure. Everyone seems to lose so much faster. I can’t function on under 700 calories. My blood sugar or BP gets low and I have no energy and almost faint. I’ve been buying clothes in smaller sizes but I feel like I’ll never reach my goal. I technically have 100 lbs to lose but already look like this...

I’m here for you if you ever want to PM and discuss diet, exercise, frustration, whatever.

I had my surgery on August 22nd, after getting on the scales a week after Surg I had lost 24.25 pounds. Then I lost nothing not one pound in 3.5 weeks! I'm hoping my stall is over as today when getting on the scales I weigh 3.3 pounds lighter than last week! Fingers crossed! It's nice to see your all going through the same thing I hope one day I can post proud before and after pics, I'm very overweight and seeing age and weight of others that have lost so much I sometimes think something is wrong here too. I'm eating about 700 calories a day

My doctor said it was for fear of swallowing it, because it could get stuck or something like that. I have thankfully never been much of a gum chewer.

I didn't know about the no gum, but on Sunday night I tried to teach my son how to blow bubbles, well that did not go down well I ended up throwing up [emoji23]

One of my co-workers finally noticed I was losing weight today. Outside of the people I'd actually told I was having the surgery, no one had noticed or said anything at all. And I'd lost 56 pounds, so that was kind of disappointing.

I didn't give them a number though, I just said something about having bought jeans that actually fit. I don't really want the idiots I work with scoreboard watching my weight, you know?

You know, it's kinda funny, but I've had friends lose 30 or 40 lbs and my thinking was "well, maybe they really weren't as heavy as I thought they were." Now that I am 7 weeks post op and have lost about 40 lbs, I don't think people notice it either.

You are heading in the right direction, keep it up!

I'm 6 weeks post op and down 52.4 lbs

i have a LOT more to lose and I don't see it on myself much. I feel it because I'm not in as much pain and not so out of breath but I feel some people are giving me false praise but oh well. Keep working hard friends, we can do this!!!!

I’m right there with you. Sleeved 8/3 at 275. Lost 17 pounds super fast, then slowly trickled in a few more pounds. Have essentially been at a stall since 8/20 eating around 800 cals a day or less. Current weight around 250. I know I’ve lost inches, it’s slightly visible, but I feel like the scale should be moving more at this point too. It’s truly maddening. I’m beginning to wonder if it’s just too few calories—but it’s so hard to eat.

I think I'm stalled again. I'm not gaining a lot, maybe 0,05 kg one day while losing 0,1 kg the next.

I honestly think I’m not eating enough as well. I started interval workouts again today and everyone went on about how amazing I look so that felt really good since it’s hard to really see when I see myself every day. I’m allowed solids this week and also have been allowed up to 1100 calories but today/yesterday (Monday/Tuesday morning) I only ate about 300 calories and worked off at least that much with a 30 min hard workout + 80 minute dog walk. I’ll most likely have another Protein Shake and snack but that will still be 600 max.

Totally having half an in n out burger Protein style later today though. I’m so excited.

Yesterday when I weighed in, for the first time in a long time, I've weighed in at under 300 lbs. I am down again today but since my scale isn't synching with the wifi and is set in stone pounds for some reason (I dunno why), I couldn't tell you.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
