Question about protein shakes

Recommended Posts

So I bought muscletech whey isolate chocolate (my doc said it was fine) for my Protein Shakes. I am about to start my 2 week liquid diet. I tried the powder for the first time with 2% milk (bought 1% for future use today) and it is NASTY! I puked it was so gross. I have had Protein shakes before. So I don't know why this one is so gross.

Anyway my question is what can I add to it, to make it taste better?

i can't do any sugar or foods?

Any suggestions?

Try the Premier Protein Caramel flavor. These are pre prepared shakes in serving size box things. YOu can get them at Walmart or almost any grocery store. I even use this as Creamer in my coffee. I am not allowed milk. I am day 5 in my pre op diet and down 11 lbs.

Here is my plan, obviously its working! coffee with a splash of Premier Protein banana or caramel , then the rest of the Premier Protein Shake for Breakfast, at 10am I have 2 C of chicken broth, at Noon I have 2 C chicken broth + another Premier Protein shake, at 2pm I have 1 sf Jello cup, at 6ish I have 2 C chicken broth (appetizer :) ) and another Carmel Premier Protein Shake, 8pm snack another sf Jello cup. I don't really like any other flavors of broth or I would have those. My shakes have to be under 200 calories, high Protein (these are 30g) and as low sugar as you can find (1g). Premier is handy, pre made, and I like the flavors (Caramel, banana, and strawberry Cream are my favorites). I SWEAR I have not had any headaches, and my energy level is really good (just fall asleep earlier which helps me not dwell on food).

If you get sick of sweet shakes and want something tart, I like Isopure ready-made blue raspberry on ice - 40 grams 20oz.

Hi........ I bought EAS Soy powder, my Dr. said "Soy" is better on you & has the Protein you need. I was told by my dietician to use Flavoring like orange, pecan, etc.... the ones you use to make cakes? But, I would buy vanilla so you can use them. Probably not so good with chocolate. And, if you get the 1 % milk really cold, you will get used to it just fine. You just need to make up in your mind, this is a step to the new you, like I did. Hope this helps.

I listened to a guest speaker at a support group meeting who said that he bought some salt shakers, and filled them each with a different flavor of sugar free Jello powder. Then he just buys plain vanilla Protein Shakes, and sprinkles a little flavoring into it so he has lots of options. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems like a great idea!

I can have Decaf only. Something about caffeine and your blood vessels during surgery. Tomorrow is my day!!!!

Unjury makes a delicious chicken Protein Soup. Tastes just like chicken soup. I'm attaching the nutrition label.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
