Larger sizes accommodate more pounds. Women's plus sizes Room maybe 30-50lbs between sizes for me. When I got down to regular misses it was more like 10-20 and the smaller sizes (below 10) were more like 5-10.

I'm going to mess up your chart! My correlation is freakish larger than anyone else's here. My starting BMI was 34 and I was wearing 18/20. I weighed 205. Why is my fat so light and fluffy and taking up all that room??

one week post op my bmi is 31 and I'm still fine in my size 18s.

The longer someone is heavy, the more their body adjusts to carry that weight.

I carried over 300 pounds for about 18 years.

My bones are 3x denser than a normal person my age (DEXA scan). I have more muscle mass than a normal woman who was never morbidly obese would have.

Most women my weight wouldn't be this physical size at my height and weight.

I wear a size 32 pant and have a 26 BMI. I have a lot of excess skin around my waist that hangs so I wear my pants a little bit lower than they should be. With all the skin removed, I would probably be a 23-24 BMI with the same pant size but higher up.

Interesting! No wonder I can't find anything decent-fitting right now, they must have fit models on the higher end of the spectrum for each size.

CW- 181 BMI is 32.6
I'm currently wearing a size 10. But in some stores I'm a size 8.

My goal is to be in a healthy BMI range... So I have 52 more pounds to go.

It isn't that necessarily. If you have ever used clothing patterns or have experience as a seamstress, the cuts of plus size clothes are completely different and allow for more weight fluctuations, also currently most clothing has a touch of stretch in it which also allows for weight fluctuations.

Which is why personally I am so against wearing things like leggings and stretchy clothes all the time. They allow you to gain weight and not feel the effects. Even jeans have stretch now. Clothes without stretch, the slightest weight fluctuation, you feel it right away. It is a good way to keep yourself in check.

Pre op wt 256# size 24 BMI 42.60

Current wt 141 size 4 BMI 23.46

I get concerned about putting too much emphasis on BMI as my son who is an athlete/weight lifter is over weight on the BMI scale.

Also if I gain 9 pounds I would be overweight on it also. It is a tool but should not be the only tool for measuring obesity.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
