I'm feeling good! Getting my 3 Protein Shakes in, sometimes slower than others. Water intake is good. My abdomen is still sore, sneezing isn't helping that! I thought I was going to fall out when I sneezed. Can't wait for purées! How about you?!

The first time I had to sneeze was about 3 days after. Dear God I thought my intestines fell out through my incisions! I can say one week out its not near as bad as day 3 lol

Hi! I am 4 days post op. I have been working to add in more Protein in the non-protein foods like Jello. The protein powder I have is terrible! No flavor is a lie! It becomes thick and sticky/ any suggestions on best types of non-flavored protein powders?

There is a brand called 'SixStar' whey protein. That I found at Walmart which was unflavored and it is advertised to dissolve in anything on the label. I have added it to broth and yogurt with no change in consistency or flavor so I would say it works very well. Just be careful though when you add it to anything hot, you don't want it to be so hot that it destroys the protein molecules.

I'm so glad that it seems everyone is doing so well. I'm getting pretty close to finally getting to get my surgery date scheduled just a couple weeks more and I will be ready. I've been at this since March. Jumping through the hoops needed and preparing. I'm getting more and more excited as I know that the real part of this journey will be here soon and I will be embarking on a new life. I love seeing all of the support and positivity everyone here is giving each other. You are all so strong and doing so wonderfully. [emoji254][emoji177]

I know how you feel. I was just sleeved on July 21. It seemed like it was taking forever for the 6 mo to go by. I even cried on my 5th mo visit with my np . I said , it feels like it isn't going to ever get here.
But it did and the last week before surgery I really got excited. I loved reading success stories here and reading all the joys of being on the losers bench.
On the morning of surgery when my Doc came in , I said, do you know what we doing today? He said yes. I said no you don't, today we birth a bellydancer and I am so excited!! He laughed and said, I love that!!!
Now I am on day 8 and I am down 7 lbs! !! got my spot on the losers bench and I will go dust a spot for you.
It's going to be ok. You will do great and surgery is so fast.

See you soon on the losers bench. It's a great place to be!!

Today I weighed in 8 days post op 30 lbs lighter. I'm down 30 lbs it was empowering. I finally was cleared to walk on tredmill and ride bike at gym so I went to my gym and did a 30 minute bike ride and then had to run to the mall to buy a summer dress for my best friends engagement party in 2 weeks and I was one full size down. This is literally only ONE week post op.

I'm onto puréed foods as well and for dinner tonight I got to purée a bean chili with fat free sour cream and a little fat free Mexican cheese. My ninja made it so smooth and it was beyond delicious. My biggest incision where they removed the stomach is the only one that is sore but my doctor said that's normal.

I'm loving life!!!!! Love sharing our journeys Xo

30 pounds in 8 days??? You are amazing! Congrats

Hi Lillie Lou I'm not a doctor so I don't want to give false info but my doctor told me once I felt ready for the full liquids I could move on. My full liquid phase starts Tuesday. So I am slowly starting to incorporate some of the new things I can have such as non fat vanilla Greek yogurt and it was delicious. My husband and I will start making Soup purées with our ninja tomorrow and then Tuesday I start the full liquid portion. I'm also extremely excited for sugar free pudding!!!!!!!!

Day 10
I had my first sugar free puffing today!
Down 12lbs
Surgery Date 7/18

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
