Sleeved Yesterday 7/19 - having trouble!!

Recommended Posts

I feel like absolute crap!! I mean this is rough. More then I thought it was. Had a battle nauesouia after taking my bedtime meds on an empty stomach.

i feel like I have a fever, but granted I was covered up with a lot of clothing.

i have body ache and god forbid I have to get up and out of a seat and sit down, it is rough and everything hurts and is tight.

Im trying to see what everyone else had. I'm really concerned and praying this gets better.

i also had an emotional bought where I was crying at home today!! I'm just all over the place

I'm so sorry you are feeling so crummy! Try a cool rag and less clothing. Rest and take your pain meds.
You should take your temp and call your dr if you have any fever or if you don't feel better tomorrow. Be your own advocate!

I think they should keep sleeve patients in the hospital a few days- I had 3 and it was perfect.

Day 2 is definitely the worst. I was terrified of drinking anything because everything nauseated me and I really didn't want to throw up.

Day 3 will feel much better than 2. By the end of the day, I started to feel ok taking sips without dreading the about to throw up feeling. I also went home around noon and took several naps.

I'm on day 4 and feeling soooo much better. It's a world of difference.

At this point, I'm still not drinking enough, but I got my Protein in.

The toughest part now is the incisions...well, just the big one really. It's quite tender. Ok, let's be real...it sometimes feels like it's ripping open when I try to move or get up. I'm being a baby about it and taking the pain meds when it's bad. Why be stoic about it when that's what they gave them for?

I'd take that pain without any meds over day 2's nausea though so hang in there. It will get better.

Hang in there! I had my surgery done on the 17th and as soon as I woke up aftee the procedure i was regretting it. The pain and nausea was so bad that I couldn't sleep for the first few days and was held in the hospital an extra day. I'm on day 4 and things aren't 100% but SO much better. Walking has really helped ease the pain and gas-x strips have been a life saver. Even at 4 days i'm not getting enough liquid but was able to drink almost 16oz of Water, 2oz of Protein, and a whole 3oz cup of sugar free Jello. Each day gets a little bit better. :) Feel free to msg me if you need someone to talk to.

Your emotional response is not surprising given the pain you are in. Also, we were warned that it is common for people to have a short bout of "buyers remorse" after the surgery due to a hormone released by the body.

Are you able to tell whether the pain is due to gas from the laparoscopy or from the incisions? If it is gas, walking or at least changing positions and stretching your body in different directions helps. If it is from the incisions, I would contact the doctor. The inside pains from the surgery and staples is generally much better by 24 hours after the surgery which is why they send you home. If your pain is not controlled then you should be in the hospital until they are able to control it

I was sleeved on 7/19 as well and I came home today at noon, I hate the way the oxy cotin makes me feel so I'm trying to just do the Tylenol. I am sore I feel the worst today! My uvula was pretty swollen after surgery from the breathing tube, which makes me gag more.

I was sleeved last friday and after day one I immediately regretted the decision because I was feeling the same exact way you are. I'm sorry that you have to feel this way but it will get better! By day 4 and on, I have felt so much better. And Eating and drinking isn't so miserable for me anymore! Feel better

I was sleeved same day as you but not feeling as bad as you. This is Day 2 past surgery and I am slowly sipping more Water and broth, but still not enough. Trying to get a bit of Protein down too. I haven't taken any meds yet today forpain or nausea. But I am so glad they are here.

i sure hope you have a better day tomorrow.

I noticed how it feels the best when I get up for long periods of time and actually walk around, it even felt good to do the five dishes in the sink! Although my husband wasn't happy I did them while he took the boys to the skate park so I could get some "rest".

I have no problems with my puree diet and drinking anything. I'm eating tuna fish, eggs, cottage cheese, regular cheese.....etc.

i have improved since yesterday. I did have another emotional bought today which I didn't see as good but I progressed through and channeled my focus towards bettering myself

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
