I'm on the purée diet. I am curious as to what a day should look like. I am paranoid of stretching out my stomach and this not working. But I am having a hard time knowing what is good to eat. There's not a lot of puréed stuff that I feel like are good calories. I will eat some mashed potatoes but I feel like those are kind of a waste and don't keep me satisfied long. Can someone give me an example of what my day should look like regarding eating? Also, any good exercises I should be doing, or should I just be intentional about walking? I'm supposed to be doing 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week.

I'm 2 weeks out just started my pureed phase. I've been doing any Soups that have the highest Protein. I started with chicken and rice and I use my smoothie blender to puree. You can only eat a few bites at first so I buy the small can and only heat 1/2 can. I've graduated to a beef stew or Soup with beef just make sure you really puree it and chew very good before swallowing. I've lost 30 lbs in 2 weeks. I stick to Protein Shakes and Greek yogurt only do I pureed meal a day. Goodluck I'm like you very worried about gaining now that I can have real food. But I've been walking a mile a day to balance it all out.

When I got out of surgery I didn't have to do purée. I was allowed Protein only- chicken and such but it had to be shredded. Or like chicken, tuna, or egg salad. Homemade only. Someone else mentioned if you're hungrier than you think you should be, talk to your doctor about an acid reducer. It dramatically changed my appetite because I was hungry all the time.

You can also add unflavored Protein Powder to puréed foods and get more bang from your buck. I didn't watch carbs because I was eating so little and I was more concerned with healing and making sure I got my Protein and Water in.
I had Greek yogurt, Tomato Soup, refried Beans, mashed sweet potato with protein powder, eggs scrambled with cheese. I always had to have at least one shake a day to get my protein in.

Joann454,

What portion sizes did you have the scrambled egg and cheese, Tomato Soup, refried Beans? 2 ounces?

I'm a week and a few days out and want to eat more real foods, but obviously I want to watch my portion sizes.

Thanks!

A

Do you have any suggestions for an unflavored protein powder that I could add? In a dream scenario it would completely blend in and I wouldn't notice grit or taste.

Cottage cheese also works well for this stage. I still eat it now and I am on solid foods. Also try the ricotta bake it is very good.

Do you mean like Pepcid?

I can't imagine having to worry about portion sizes too much as the sleeve is restricted - but it's a good thing to think of

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
