I am not an Eagles Fan...:( so that makes you not cool! Just kidding!!! You can still be one of my new found buddies. What procedure are you doing and are you more nervous than excited since it's 5 days away are a little of both?

Hi dhrguru,

How has the journey been for you...are you settling into your new lifestyle now are it still all new? What has your experience been like? Any suggestion for post-op care and supplies? I would love to learn more. I am a bundle of nerves right now, 24 day before surgery.

I'm having the Roux-en-y surgery. I've been doing my liquid diet for 10 days now and I think this has been the hardest part so far. Just because I know I can still have food without making myself sick but my mind is totally ready for this to happen. I'm excited for it to happen but I wish it were a month post op already haha. I'll get there though.

My experience has been excellent. HW:337 SW:315 CW:197 Goal: 187. (But if I never lost another #, I'd still be content). This gets harder the further you are out. It's very easy to gain- or get comfortable and eat what you shouldn't . Weight loss aside- I'm most proud of the exercise regimen I do. I run on weekends, and hit the gym 2-3x/week- it's a sustainable regimen that I love.

I had no complications to speak of post op. There was pain, it went away. Drinking and walking are your main two goals post op. I took 3 weeks off of my sedentary job. Two to recover, a third to adapt to how I needed to eat. Re: Protein shakes: don't stock up, your tastes may change and you may not like the same flavors post op. Canned broth was nasty imo- I went to au bon pain and bought the broth from the chicken Soup they sell. I used chewable vitamins until I was able to tolerate pills at 4 months post op.

I was not nervous about my surgery- I was confident in the Bariatric team I was working with and just set my mind on the work ahead of me. Keep us posted on how you're doing.

Hi, I'm 10 days post op and doing great. Day of surgery weighed 319 now I'm 289. Hard to believe but 30 lbs in 10 days. Most of it was Water weight. My legs and feet were always swollen. Now I can see my ankle bones and calves are smaller. Also the first week it's hard to get much down. My dr had me on clear diet for 2 days and I couldn't stand broth so I lived on Jello, apple juice, Protein waters. And lots of water. The 3rd day I could have Protein Shakes, sf chocolate pudding, and Greek yogurt. I still only eat about 3 bites. Or can only get a half of the shake down but I drink lots of water. I'm getting about 400 or less calories. Oikos triple zero Greek yogurt is my go to for meals at this point. I have sf popcicles and organic Tomato juice with seasalt found at publix it's a nice change from all the sweet stuff. Publix also has a protein milk called Rockin refuel that has 30 grams protein taste just like real chocolate milk and it's lactose free. I love it. The first 5 days were hard for me nausea was really bad. And smells really bothered me. It's gotten better. The pain was not near as bad as I imagined. Protein, water, and walking is the key. Also as soon as you fill full stop. Even if I have 2 bites and feel full I quit. I hate to vomit and haven't so far. Listen to your body and you will do great. It's hard and you will have days better than others. I literally just walk it off. That helps. Good luck to you.

Waving, I'm over in NJ. I grew up just outside of Philly in Bucks County. Now I'm across the river in Hunterdon County. I have surgery in early August.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
