Wanda I read your thread and know what you mean. This Christmas is different. Some of our old habits we have to break. Christmas has always been hard for me. So I will pray for God's Sprit to help you and fill you with Joy over flowing joy that us Christians should have all the time.

God Bless You

This is a wonderful day! I have new hope in Christ, I have new wonderful friends (they would be you! haha) and found out that were I work won't be switching ins co. (we currently have BCBS)! Thank you Lord!! I also found out that a dear friend here at work has "secretly" started her gastric bypass surgery journey. The date hasn't been set for her sx yet but it's ggggggreat knowing we can talk to one another! I had been looking for a seminar in our area and wanted badly to have my sx done at Duke University here in NC because they have the best surgeons! I hadn't had any luck and when I talked to her yesterday she led me straight to a website Duke sponsors and EVERYTHING I need is right there! Ins. codes, seminar information, instructions....it's ALL there! I am signing up for the seminar today! That's where I'll start the ball rolling by signing up the night of the seminar, which will let them know I want to have one of the surgeries. They give me a packet of info to take to my phy and so on. It's all very exciting!!

Can anyone tell me how long you have to keep the port? That part scares me.

LapBandFan...PRAISE THE LORD for that wonderful

report about your Dad and about your friend, JR!!!

To all those who gave me encouraging words...God bless you!

You keep your port as long as you have the band...it's a package deal--without the port you can't get fills, and that too is a lifelong process.

Wanda,

I know we all sometimes go through some times of depression of feeling down, been there and done that myself. I went through a phase right after my surgery of mourning my food, like a death in my life! I missed what I could no longer have. I know it sounds crazy but I did. God helped me through it as I looked toward the end of the journey of having this - a healthier me! I will pray God touches you today and lifts your spirit and gives you the reasons that it is worth having the band and no, I don't think it is wrong for you to focus on just you as your hubby said. It is a time of adjustment for you. Really, Just focus on the new skinnier you that is coming out of the shell. Try to visualize you looking hot as you already know you are on the inside! It helps me when I am feeling down to go out and do something nice and unexpected for someone else, like a random act of kindness that makes you feel good about yourself. God will help you if you ask him, I promise. I pray you see His promises today for your life and that you tell Satan to "get thee behind me" as the devil is just trying to get you down and kill you wonderful spirit.

Take care of yourself and love yourself too! I will be praying for you!

Sometimes we have to "fake it 'til we make it"!! Maybe this is one of those times! It's okay. We'll make it! We've spent our last few Christmases in an RV park with no family around. It was hard at first, but it's okay. We get in to the activities going on here and we keep in close touch with our family by phone and we end up having a nice Christmas. We had to adjust our expectations. Am I making any sense??

Good afternoon all,

It's been awhile since I've posted but things are rushing in like a fllod with me. satan has tried to attack me in every way possible. I feel so helpless, all the while knowing that God still is in control. I am so scared of test and I just found out that I have a training ( 3 days) to go to in January (paraprofession) and already I'm stressing. There are other problems as well, but I won't go into them. A co-worker gave me a scripture this morning (Numbers 6:24-26) and right now I'm standing on that. Please pray for me today. I'm sitting here almost in tears tying this and I'm sure the students are looking and thinking I'm having a breakdown (usually I'm upbeat). Thank goodness they are working on the computers.:ranger:

Lapband, I'm so happy and thankful about your dad and your friend.

Wanda, I felt the same way after being banded--feels so different, like I'm me, but not me. I assumed it's the body telling the mind, if I can change so can you. LOL

Christmas (the spirit of Christmas) is in us all. We Celebrate Christ everyday. Put on some christmas music and sit for a while and thank God for today and his goodness. This too shall pass.

Thanks everyone for your prayers in advance. Have a blessed day.

Gloria/gloharmar

Hi all. I am realatively new and still learning to navigate and find my way back to threads I am interested in. I just started my journey and if all goes well, will be banded in July 07. I am a christian and have asked God for 5 years if this is right for me. I now feel that it is and am leaving it all in his hands. If no hang ups with insurance or anything else; I will know it is the right thing for me to do. :notagree

Gloria, thanks for the reminder that I Celebrate my Lord each day, not just at the holiday season. That is exactly what needed to hear. I knew it in my heart, but for some reason could not get the words from my heart to my head. Christan support is the awesome. I don't know how people who are not Christians make it. Each of you are a blessing to me. Thanks for being willing to listen, but most of all being willing to share your world with me.

Because He Lives,

Wanda

Hi everyone!! My name is Jaymie and I am getting the band on December 28th. I am glad that there is a Christian thread here because there is nothing like Godly people giving support. I got to be honest, I am scared to death. I have purposly made the date for after Christmas so I can still enjoy the food. Am I strange or what? I think my food addiction is bigger than I thought. I am actually grieving in a sense the fact that I will not be able to eat what I am now. Do you think this is normal? I am currently 229 and I am 5'7". I want to be 150, if possible. I just want some encouraging friends. I have opted not to tell anyone about this except my husband, of course. So now I hope you all will pray for me on the surgery date, please:clap2:!! Can't wait to here from you all!!

In Christ alone, Jaymie

Hi, Jaymie,

what you are feeling is completely normal! don't be grieving the food... some of that stuff you love, you won't even want anymore, and you'll find it's no big deal. I eat whatever i want to eat, just in much, much smaller portions than I used to. The only thing you might have to give up is bread and I can actually eat a little, if I want to, but I don't usually want it. We'll be praying for you. You won't be sorry you did this!

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!!! I can't believe how fast the season has come this year. We had our Christmas dinner at church last night and exchanged gifts ;)

Jesus is our hope, our way, and our light :) He is the reason for this season and it is soooo helpful to have that reminder when I'm out trying to get that last gift or make that next dish :)

Hugs and prayers for each and everyone one of us!! I pray God's blessings be poured out on YOU today!!!!

The day before my surgery, I went for a walk in the mall to think some things over. I was going down the escalator and my head was down, a man was going up on the other side of the escalator and he said don't worry about it, it will be okay. I looked at him and said I know it will be and he said well you don't look like you know and I wanted to make sure. He smiled and went up. I walked off the escalator and burst into tears because I knew he was an Angel from God confirming that everything will work out.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
