I'm 19 & getting the sleeve at a hospital. My surgeon is great but doesn't want an endoscopy. (I need a H. Pylori test and blood work). I've seen other people say that they saw important things with the endoscopy before surgery. Do you guys think I should ask for one?

My insurance required one, egd. Looks for h. Pylori, GERD and signs of general inflammation. All these could be a decision point for a sleeve.

Egds are very easy with no prep. Go to sleep, wake up. Done.

I agree with you my insurance required it also and it made me feel better about my surgery because I made sure every little test was done and I felt more relaxed knowing there would be no surprises or health issues come up during surgery.

My insurance company did not require this procedure to approve me.

I had to have one to diagnose GURD and have my revision.
