Got my date! June 22 @ Kaiser West LA

Wow! What a journey it's been! Six months ago I inquired about WLS surgery and today I finally got my surgery date for June 22 at Kaiser West LA. So nervous and excited. Only 2 weeks to go!

Anyone else having surgery June 22??

Thank you! I've been reading your posts for a few months now - we both started the classes at about the same time. How is your recovery going?

I am 6 days post op it is going OK like I said it is a learning experience you have to figure out what works for you trying to get the protein in and the water at first was very difficult but now I pretty much have it down I do have my 1st appointment tomorrow with the dietitian and then next week I have my appointment with the surgeon I will keep following on here to see how you're progressing.
I do have an a YouTube pageand Instagram page if you'd like to follow me on there you can I cannot figure out how to paste my YouTube information so I'm just gonna screenshot itIMG_0079.JPG

  • 2 weeks later...

I also have Kaiser and waiting to see when I can get it. Can I ask you why did it take six months? Just because they were busy, or waiting for classes, or...?

Each Kaiser has a different process. Here's a rough timeline of the process I had to go through

- early Jan. referral from PCP
- mid-Jan orientation to Options program
- early Feb meet with program director
- first week of February start 12 week Options program
- mid-March (6 weeks into Options) meet with program director and complete all required tests
- last week of April finish Options
- mid-May final appointment with program director
- May 30 meet surgeon
- June 20 pre-op appointments
- June 22 surgery

Hope that helps! Although, the requirements at your Kaiser may be totally different than the Kaiser I go to in SoCal.

Thank you for that rundown. I will for sure have to see how ours is then.

Hello Ladies,

I am in Southern California (Palm Springs area) and my surgery date is July 17th. I am so excited. This has been a long journey but I am glad to be final close to my date. I would have opted for an earlier date since my last options class was Oct. 7, 2016 but there were several holidays in between so I opted to wait for the summer when school is out.

I look forward to being encouraged by reading your journey's and learning things from you veteran sleevers. :D
