Just told surgery wouldn't be for another 6ish months

In Alberta, the process for WLS is already a long one, but I met with my clinic today for my monthly meeting and was told surgery is still another 6ish months away :(

I had my first meeting in July 2016 (referral from doctor was sent in Sept 2015) and now hoping for a November 2017 surgery date. I was so hoping that I would be told my surgery date is July/Aug - but the surgeon I am seeing has decided not to do and WLS surgeries over the summer, and his list is already long - so the best I can hope for is November. I realize that, in the scheme of things, this isn't that long.... but I have already been waiting for this since my original referral in Sept 2015! I am having a tough time keeping positive (with my diet, and in general)

How long did you wait?

I'm so sorry. That's really disappointing.
I waited two years. Some was developing dvt and some was having my dad pass away. I almost went to Mexico to have it done because I felt like it would never happen. I understand that disappointment. It'll happen. Hang in there.

My process started Nov 2015. I was supposed to have it in July last year but it got held up because of miscommunication. So i ended up having it in October. It's frustrating but just think of it as more time to work on your diet and mind. It's a lot harder than i ever imagined to stay on track and i wish i worked on it more pre op. Good luck hun. Hang in there. It'll happen.

I am/was waiting 4 years from me Dr. referral never heard a thing till last October when I had to do some web semesters, a week trial run on a liquid diet, then had to see my nut. And coordinator after that wait to meet with the surgeon got a call last week's for surgery on June 26th. It took a long time to get the ball rolling but when it did I don't think it has been to bad.

Thanks all.

I have met, and surpassed my pre-op weight loss (started last may at 275, now at 191lbs) - clinic told me to try and maintain my weight where I am (not gain, not lose) - so I guess I am relieved that they don't want me to lose anymore, but I am worried about gaining - all "diets" I have done have always failed, resulting in all the weight, plus some returning. I had the clinic put me on the cancelation list, so I am crossing my fingers that I am called.
