    Gained weight after medication

Any time post surgery that I've gained I'll just go back to basics. Protein first. Veggies, minimal carbs, more water and more walking. Comes off way easier than before. But i haven't taken gabapentin long enough post surgery to notice a difference tho. Also haven't taken birth control since surgery cause I'm afraid of possible gain. How much have you lost?

And it took less than a year. My nutritionists goal for me was 150. No less than 140. But we shall see[emoji4] Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    How much have you lost?

Hiya! Im 5'2 and my highest was 272 (way before surgery) the day of surgery Oct 5, 2016, i was 248.8 and today i am 152.4lbs. My lowest was 140. Trying to get back to that maybe lower. Ultimate gw is 120. That would put me at 152lbs total loss. Im obsessed lol. But I've been teetering from 140s to 150s for some months now. My eating had changed but im changing it right back for the better. Cant go gaining all that weight back[emoji6] Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. I feel this way most of the time. I find that having too many options make me anxious and i shut down and would rather someone else make the decision for me. Then ill just pick the lower carb option i can find and take forever to eat it. But that's dining out. When im home i just avoid food until i can't anymore. It's just annoying and i usually don't have much time so I'll make sure I'm hydrated if i don't have time to eat. Its just easier and faster and i don't have to think about it. It's not always healthy but im working on it. Therapy helps. My cousin just pointed out to me that before surgery if i lived alone I'd have a house full of food. Now, post surgery if i lived alone my house would look so sad in the food department. But it didn't occur to me the switch until she pointed it out. Weird how that happens huh? Sorry im rambling. It's late and im procrastinating packing for my trip[emoji23] Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

Thank you so much for that. You seem pretty normal in the way you approach things. It seems pretty natural. It's pretty much what i try to stick to. Snacking IS a problem. Especially around that time of the month. But im getting my groove back. Making more of an effort to prioritize my water and protein and trying to get in more activity. I had gone to the gym a few times with my sister but i did a lot of weights and got really sore. Maybe ill just keep it simple and stick to cardio and yoga. Thanks for the help. Keep up the great work![emoji3] Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

Ummm tips please! You look bomb.com hunty! How tall are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm 5'2 and 150lbs currently and you look how i wish i looked lol. Been trying to hit the gym but it makes my fibro flare up so I'm probably going to work into yoga and just keep walking about an hour a day. You've REALLY motivated me to get these last 30lbs off. I had surgery 2 months before you, so i feel like a surgery sister lol. You're amazing. Im such a slacker compared to most of you guys. Keep up the good work girl! 2 months til 2 years VSG

I'll be 2 years in Oct. It's been hard these last several months. All i want is junk food. So I'm making my way back to basics so i can lose my last 20 to 30lbs. Which I'd like to do before my 2 year post op visit. Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Issues with cold liquids?

Plain cold water for me is hit or miss. I favor teas and 0 calorie, 0 sugar drinks. Room temp water is where it's at for me. I can usually do just fine with that. But put ice in it and the game changes a bit. Tea is fine cold or hot, i don't know why. But it's a favorite for me. I am 16 months out and many things still give me pause but you take the good with the bad. You just gotta do a little trial and error. Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    F U SODA

I'm over a treat out and rarely drink soda. It's just not comfortable. I'll badge a few sips here and there every so often but its not with the discomfort or the calories and sugar. I really dont miss it much. I can drink enough to be satisfied but it does nothing but make me sick and angry so i don't bother much at all lol. I like it this way. I have enough temptation issues lol Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Oh no she didn't... haha...NSV

Love this!! Same thing keeps happening to me. My sister keeps giving me clothes she's bought that are too small or too big for anyone in her house. Which isn't hard cause I'm currently a S/M and a size 6-8 (depending on cut). But the smallest person in her house is my 12 year old niece lol. So when she gives me something that looks tiny I'm just like yeah right. And i humor myself and try it on and it fits. Such a mind f*ck i swear lol. 15. I heard it's hell for almost a year. But i did hear it does get better. But i don't think it's worth it for me as of yet. Think I'll have someone just fill out the back for me with some of the front, see how that goes lol. Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. I do that position as much as i can. I even start out in that position a lot of times. But somehow i end up like the second diagram and in agony. I really have NO butt lol. And the bones i sit on to eleviate the tailbone pain, cause my legs to go to sleep and i can feel the bones moving under me. Anyone else have that issue? Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. Been trying to figure this out myself. If someone finds out how to heal tailbone pain without getting rid of my tailbone, greatly appreciated[emoji28] Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    4+ year Vet Starting Over

I feel your frustration so much. I was sleeved Oct 2016 and I've technically met my surgeon and nutritionist goal and passed it. But im still struggling to lose the last 20. I'm hovering between 142 and 144 at 5'2 and it took like 6 months to lose from 160 something to now. I am rebooting myself. But im going back to basics in the dense protein and veggies sort of way. If i follow the plan i should be ok. I've tried to go back to liquids but its harder than EVER. I keep straying. WHY is this so hard? I feel like i should have been to my goal weight already. My family doesn't think i need to lose more but i want to be able to get into the healthy bmi range for my height. Being told all your life to lose weight is NOT fun. I don't want to give any doctors any reason to doubt me on my health concerns. Sorry for the rant. I just feel you on the frustration[emoji28].

    GERD

Wow. That's crazy. Thanks for the explanation. I know if I'm not following my plan I'm usually more prone to heartburn. I didn't even consider iron pills giving me a problem. I've been anemic for a bit but have been scared of iron pills since my bathroom habits aren't as consistent as they used to be if you know what i mean. That makes me think. Thanks for that. GERD

How did eliminating meat make things worse? I've never heard of that. I'm always going back and forth with if i should eat meat or not but never thought it'd make heartburn worse by getting rid of it. What happened if you don't mind me asking. I'm genuinely curious. Scale or no scale

I didn't weigh myself much in the beginning after surgery because i knew the surgery bloat would kill my confidence. I bought a scale a couple of months after. I weigh almost every day but i only track once a week. It helps because i can fix my gluttonous mistakes before they get out of hand lol. Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Soft solid introduction

    Soft solid introduction

Try to take atleast 3 to 5 minutes between bites. And chew it to as liquid a constancy as you can. To the point you can suck it through a straw. Try to only incorporate one soft solid at a time. Like have mostly pureed and one soft solid meal. It's a slow process for sure and it is very uncomfortable in the beginning. Even water hurt like hell but it gets better. Are they spasms that happen like right under your chest bone around the upper/ middle of your torso? If so thats what i had. You're still really swollen and tight right now. I find drinking a hot cup of tea helps relax things so they aren't so tight. Its still rough 13 months out but WAY better than the first couple months. Still call your surgeon just to be sure it isn't a stricture, but if the food is staying down without nausea i wouldn't worry TOO much (not a doctor just speaking from my own experience). How long does the cramping last? Is it soon after a bite, lasts a few seconds and then passes? If so that sounds like what i go through. I take REALLY small bites, breaks in between of atleast 2 to 3 minutes depending on how far in the meal i am. I take longer pauses between bites if im more than halfway done so i can better judge when I'm satisfied/ full. Just take your time. You may have to go back to mostly puree for a bit to give your tummy more time to adjust. I didn't start soft foods till a month out and could barely get halfway through a soft scrambled egg. Egg drop soup was my friend. Stay strong and keep your surgical team in the loop. They may be able to adjust things to better suit your needs. Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app
  25. How far out are you? I didn't eat salad for MONTHS. And its still touch and go. How did your tummy feel? Really rumbly or painful? My first time eating raw apple, my stomach felt and sounded like a marching band lol. Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app
