Can't get it all in

Recommended Posts

I was banded in the 2nd, and I'm on fully liquids for the next week or two. I knw thw importance of getting in enough protien and 64 oz of Water but I just can't get it all in so I've been working on sipping from a 34 oz bottle of water(only drank about 1/2 the bottle so far) :faint:, then stopping for a protien shake smoothie or broth every couple of hours. Am I still suppossed to wait a half an hour before drinikng again or does that not matter at this point. IS anyone else getting in all 64 oz at this point???:help:

I was banded 9-20-07 and for the first few days I could only take a sip every 10-15 minutes. It really depends on how tight you are and also the swelling plays a big part. Everyone is different but i definetly could not get that much down until about a week after my surgery. So it will get better. Hang in there.

I was banded on the 2nd as well. Yesterday i did so bad at getting it all in. I started the day with 2 cups of Water, then 1 cup tea, downed a bottle of Isopure, 1 cup broth, 1 more cup of Water, and now on the second bottle of Isopure. I also took a three hour nap in between. I think i will end the day with broth but i have to milk this isopure. Its not the most pleasant thing to drink.

I keep a bottle of Water with me all day, no matter where I go. It makes getting all thats required much easier. I am now up to over 2 gallons of water per day. For the first 2 weeks, I kept it at 64 ozs, counting the Protein Shake as liquid. It gets easier and the more you can drink, the better off you are. As for drinking and eating at the same time, use the time you are on liquids to get used to waiting before and after meals to drink. It will make it easier later on....Dave

Hi everybody,

I was banded on 10/3 and the advice I received was that I was to go on to a liquid diet for the next four weeks. This however is not as stringent as I initially thought a liquid diet would be. I am allowed to eat jelly, custard and yoghurt all in their low fat low sugar forms of course.

How much diversity in diet is being recommended in your programs over in your parts of the world compared to mine here in Australia?

On another point, how are you feeling now? Is your stomach still tender? My arms and legs were very sore for the first two days out of surgery. Could it have been the anaesthetic?

I too was banded on the 3rd of October. I am on the clear liquid stage until Monday. I just don't rush myself. It took 2 hours to get down 1/2 cups of ISO PURE, and 1/2 of apple juice. I am constantly sipping Water through out the day. Yesterday I didn't follow the meal plan and I didn't drink the Protein Drinks, and by 9pm I was starving! So today I promised myself I would drink my Protein at the very least! But I am not giving up on the water!

i was banded on the 25th. i am feeling pretty good but my struggle has been since i went back to work. i have energy in the morning and am getting decent amounts of fluids but am Protein starved. i can tell because i am dreaming of fish and cottage cheese. i got so low on energy yesterday that i called the dr and they are letting me start cottage cheese. i think over a period of time i ate almost a cup, but i felt much better. the protein is huge because once you are back to work, depending on your job, you really need your energy to function.

i am still on full liquids but i have yogurt, pudding, and now...cottage cheese. i have a hard time getting in those slimfast high Protein Shakes. i can get one in over the whole day but that is just not enough protein for me. jamba juice Protein Drink is working for me as well. i get the small one and have them add an extra protein boost.

anyhow, hang in there. it seems friday and sunday are my tough days of the week.;)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
