Weight loss stall

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 3/27 and lost roughly 35 lbs. in the first 3 weeks. Since then I've been stuck at roughly 335. I started at 370. I've been trying to stay away from the scale to avoid discouragement but it doesn't seem to work.

I'm getting my 60+ grams of Protein and 60+ ounces of liquid in per my Dr. each day. Some days are easier than other. I'm not eating any junk food and am staying less than 25 carbs each day. Basically I'm eating meat and Protein Shakes. By my best guess I'm getting somewhere between 600-800 calories most days but some days way less (around 450).

I know its WAY too early to panic, but am I just making about big deal and worried over nothing about this stall?

You can search "stall" and most everyone has been through it. No need to panic. Just keep on track and it will start coming off again. It can last from a few days to weeks. 3 things you need to do - get in your Water, your Protein and your Vitamins.

This is normal. You are following your plan. How about some form of exercise?
You are doing all you can. The rest is up to your body. I'm in a stall too. But this to shall pass.

Ive been at a stall for a while now. I lost 50 lbs in the first few months and then nothing really since. I work out and eat right. I am told by the doctor that this is normal and it will pass.

Sleeved on 3-21. I too had the dreaded 3 week stall! I literally did throw away my scale!! Stomped out and tossed it right in the trash can. Lol. I went and bought a new scale....no difference. . I went a week and the scale started moving again. All is fine now! And....Although I don't recommend throwing away a scale....I do have a much cuter bathroom scale now.

Lol... I'm looking for a cuter scale.< br>I'm happy that the scale moves in the right direction.
We didn't gain this weight over night. We just need to follow our nutritional guidelines, be true to our goals, exercise, and track! We got this! [emoji1303]

I'm in the same exact position!Sleeved 3/27 and lost about 26lbs but now I'm stuck. Apparently there is a "3 week stall" that happens to a lot of people. I'm hoping it passes real soon.

Be patient. Add some vegetables, don't be afraid to keep increasing calories. Most of us need more like 80-100 grams of Protein a day, 80-100 oz of Water is better too. But work up to that slowly in those early days. The goal is to get to a normal healthy amount and variety of food. Stick to 100% whole grains when you do eat grain-based food. And don't hesitate to change your mind. Of course you can eat just meat, and it's ok if you choose to eat bread. Track everything, vary the choices, and you will find a rhythm that works for you. Patience is key.

I find when I stall that it is good to change something up. If you have been walking try a low impact workout dvd. Are you in a food rut eating the same things? I agree that increasing calories and even carbs for a couple of days would be good. The key is to stick with it and keep sharing your progress/venting to us. We've all been there and can relate and you are not alone.

I've lost about 30 lbs since the original post, so the whole "stall" thing is truth...Now it seems I'm stuck in one again.

I've been stuck at 307 lb for a little over a week. I'm struggling to get my Protein in but have no issue getting 70+ ounces of Fluid each day. I'm at about 40 g of protein on average daily. I solely eat meat and not much of it. I'm just not really ever hungry. I get busy at work and forget that I need to eat. Protein Shakes arent an option as they disgust me since surgery.

Hopefully this is just another "stall" and I'll be back on track in a few days.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
