You can have decaf coffee. My nutritionist allowed me to start drinking regular coffee in moderation at 8 weeks post op. Until then, I drank decaf. Just to be safe though, check with your nutritionist and/or doctor. They might have different guidelines.

Try to stay away from it. I have a friend who craves them and high in sugar...she is having pancreatic issues now....her surgery was a year in Dec

I agree! I'm 7 weeks out of surgery and I'm only allowed decaf coffee! Because caffeine can cause dehydration! I don't even miss the caffeine anymore and I feel so much better with out it!

Personally, I have been drinking coffee since I was 7yrs old, my Dr and Nut said no caffeine ever because it can cause ulcers., For me I would think I would have had the ulcers many years ago, so not likely for me to give up coffee. I also tried decaf coffee (Sanka) and decaf tea.., can't do it, will just enjoy my regular coffee as I always have. Didn't start drinking coffee until I was 6 weeks post-op though, wanted to make sure I would be OK with it. And don't forget, just because you loved a food or drink before surgery, you may not be able to stomach certain things anymore. [emoji256]
