Ugh. So hard. I'm struggling with the liquid diet- cheated today and had a cup of chili and I'm regretting it. I know I can do it it's just the need for real food that I'm caving on. Had my endoscopic sleeve a week ago. Anyone else have this struggle? Any suggestions with how to get over this hump and be more consistent?

Just imagine your stomach splitting open, or getting a massive infection. That should help with the motivation... ;)

I hear ya. I've got two more days to go before I can move on to the pureed stage. I'm SO TIRED of broth!!! BUT, we're on a new path and "this, too, shall pass". With the surgery we've had, we can do serious damage if we go at it too hard too quick. As the person above replied, imagine our stomachs splitting open inside of us.

In one of the numerous videos I watched before getting the surgery, the guy conveyed the story of a newly sleeved guy going to a buffet 2 or 3 days post-op, getting three (THREE!!!) full plates of food and eating all of them, along with soda. His stomach literally split open inside of him, he became septic, and died. Really, was it worth it?

Anyway, I keep the visual of what this guy did in my head as I struggle through this process. Keep your eye on the prize, not the path to it.

I suspect most people go through this, I know I did. There are not a bunch of posts on here raving about their favorite liquid diet!

If you need the real food that bad, talk to your surgeon. I did and he let me go to the egg phase at only 10 days post-op. Whatever you do though, do not deviate at this stage unless the surgeon approves. 5 minutes of food is not worth potential complications!

You really oughtn't to feel true hunger after your sleeve. Head hunger, however, is a very real and difficult thing. I had to resort to tricks to get past it: go for a walk, play with the dog, get up and move around (I spend a lot of time on my computer, and an old habit to break is munching while I'm here).

Does your doctor allow sugar free popsickles, etc. as part of your liquid diet? It can help if your mouth actually gets to chew/something (or at least go through the motions).

Please be careful!! I know others said the same thing above but....in order to be safe and healthy going thru your journey YOU must follow your Surgeon's guidelines!! It would be so sad if something happened to you after eating off program. All I can say is they may have different guidelines but it is pretty certain that you shouldn't be eating chili this soon. Hang tight you have GOT this!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
