Agree with the above, but one other thought. Could it be your period? Surgery tends to start it for many of us when it isn't expected.

I am wondering that too..I'm 57 and haven't had a period in 10 months. I put a pad on and there is a little blood. Seems to be clearing up since yesterday...I'll bet you are right

I started spotting the day of my surgery (after two week pre op diet where I dropped 26 lbs)

I'm week 5 and still spotting, nothing heavy but it is in the toilet. (I'm also on a BC shot, so I shouldn't have a period at all)

I was told it is my hormones going crazy, I also have pop up acne, which I never had previously.

It is mostly brownish, so 'older' shed.

Fat is a major storer of estrogen, so burning fat is releasing that estrogen. That plus the trauma of surgery is likely enough to cause spotting!

I get that way whenever I go into Ketosis- body is releasing estrogen stored in your body fat... I'm 4 days post surgery and have had spotting since day 3 of my pre-op plan. I am not concerned about it but if you are, go seek assistance. Best wishes!
