I've made it to day 5 of liquids, and it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. Surprisingly, the first 2 days were the easiest for me, but by day 3 I was tired of chocolate shakes and really wanted food. I'm doing the Atkins shakes and all the flavors taste the same to me. I'm supposed to drink 5 a day, but the past two days I've only been able to drink 4 (I was full). But, I'm proud of myself for making it this far and not complaining too much, and I'm happy with how fast the pounds are coming off. Tomorrow I go to the Anesthesia Clinic at Loyola for Pre-Admission, and then surgery will be Monday morning.

I'm on day 4 of my liquid diet... I cheated. I had a pickle It was an amazing pickle, too. Does anyone else have really bad diarrhea tho? I mean liquid in, liquid out, but it's kinda been days now and I don't know if that's normal. This is absolute torture... not being able to eat. I want to eat so bad lol. I don't really like the Protein Shakes either.. but I guess I better get used to them. i started a video blog on youtube to help keep myself on track through my journey. Good luck to all of you! My surgery is the 24th.

Premier shakes are awesome, I just found the Will Power to keep the eye on the price,... I'm sure isn't the hardest thing you've ever done, Keep Up. You can do it,...

My mistakes 1.- Keep watching food channel. Lmao 2.- My favorite show Hell's Kitchen,.... 3.- Going Out to eat (A looot of Temptation out there) 4.- Not keep my mind busy and just focusing on food that I like and I love to eat. - Drink Water ... sometimes that hunger feeling, it's just thirst ....

Keep it up. We all have our own struggles none of us are the same. I found the first 3 days the hardest and then the night before. I guess you can say I cheated too but I tried to keep it in line with the program. My cheat was I had a sip of Pickle Juice (in my mind it was clear liquid) lots of sodium but it was better than the alternative. I also had hard boiled egg whites twice. Very high in Protein and the goal is protein. I am NOT saying it was ok it wasn't what my doctor ordered. On the others side of the surgery the struggle is still there. No you are not hungry but you still struggle with the mental part of it. It is a mind game for real. I would start learning how to. win now and figure out what works for you in the struggles. You can do this I know you can. Also I find the New Whey Protein Shots a quicker way and easier way to get in that protein. They are 4 oz and 42g of Protein. They really help me after because it cant take me all day to get down one shake. Like I said the struggles are real. Each phase has a new one but you can do it. Its about re learning how to eat properly and get in the proper nutrients and how to portion your meals. We didnt get here by having good habits. I know I didnt. So its like I have gone back to preschool and I am being taught from being a bottle baby (protein shakes) to creamy drained Soups (cereal) to pureed food (baby food) to solids. Youve got this. We are not perfect we all fail but get back up brush it off and keep going or we will never see the finish line.

I don't mind the powder that I got from my Dr office. I've tried caramel latte and chocolate and I like muscle milk chocolate too. That's all I've tried so far. I'm on day 8 of my liquid diet and I'm down 15.6lbs!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
